View Full Version : [ISBoxer] (WoW) - Multiclass Teams: Beginners setup
Hello all.
So I started out with multiple computers, multiple monitors, and a single keyboard n mouse. Not my cup of tea. Switched to ISBoxer, and using one computer now with slaves's FPS lowered. Muuuch better.
I made 4 Hunters. (2) orcs, and (2) trolls. Heh, neat. Deleted those before they got to lvl 12.
Then I made 4 Warriors (1) Undead, (1) Tauren, (2) Orc. Melee also fun. Neat! Deleted those before 12 also.
Then made 4 Priests. (1) Worgen, (3) Humans. Very cool. Im gonna keep these.
I got down the whole, quest together, turning in quests together, doing BGs together, switching leaders, RoundRobin looting, Vendoring items... I got this.
Now, I am ready (I think), to graduate to (4) different classes. O.o!
Im considering, (1) warrior, (2) priests, and (1) shammy (No real reason) Heres the reason for the thread posting. I am assuming when I press "1" and the following numbers up to "=", that I will put up the spells or skills in order of what I would like to "go off" so that they all do it together?
Ex:
Warrior "1" = Macro for Charge+Sunder
Priest1 "1" = Macro for Shield +Renew+Heal
Priest2 "1" = Macro for SPriest dot rotation
Shammy "1" = Macro for DPS rotation+Totem drop
Have I got this right? or am I making this harder than it needs to be?
God I love this stuff!!

ur welcome to post a EASY roundrobin guide. i dont get it.. im totaly lost in that.. :-) ty hehe
And tp your questing: yes.. all 5 chars will use whatever thats on "1" - I can see u use charge.. just make sure they dont /follow when u start a fight, otherwise they will "charge" with your warrior.
If ur new to boxing ? like me.. and want melee classes, try out 4-5 DKs, in blood spec, i can solo all classic instance, and outlands. ( im lvl 69) dont know in wotlk yet, but I think i will be apel to do so.
Oh thats fantastic Cookie. Good point about the Charge. Actually, Im not sure how to get only one guy to go off and charge, meanwhile the group stay behind...yet.
Roundrobin tips:
(I use ISBoxer and Jamba.)
Once you are all logged in, and team is together, set your looting option to "Round Robin"
You should also have already set up your IWT keymap within ISBoxer so that it coincides with what you are using in WoW.
I use ALT+~ (so for this demo, ill keep using it, but you can use whatever you like)
Here's how this works.
Your team kills mob one.
You move your team to its location or have IWT option to Move to Target. (either way, you are at the body)
ALT+~ and the groups fist character loots everything on the body, regardless of BOE or BOP items.
NOTE!!
If you are doing quests and you are required to loot an object, IF your primary loot owner has already completed or is no longer needing to loot this object, your slaves (if on that quest), will attempt to loot it, and one of them will.
Upon killing your second target, repeat the IWT looting with ALT+~
Your second group member (who is the primary loot owner) will loot.
Again... same note as before about looting quest objects.
The difference between Group loot and Round Robin loot is there is no Need/Greed/Pass window. So there is no need to swap windows from your master window and click for each person.

I have Jamba set to change looting to Free For All.
And have the box checked, so if someone not in my team joins the group it goes back to Group Loot.
When something is Bind on Pickup, I still get a confirmation if I want to loot it.
I've done Master Looter at times too, one toon checks corpses and decides which party member should receive the piece.
I use a lot of castsequences, they're not always necessarily the optimal choices, but they're close/decent and work for me.
Most of my teams, DPS with straight one button spam, even if it does alternate between two sequences as per the newer DPS castsequence threads.
And then I have special keys for whatever.
I use 1 through =, for FTL stuff.
Shift A through Shift ; for team specials.
Shift F1 through Shift F10, for team independent moves like Mount Up, Rez, Enter/Leave BG, Eat/Drink/Banadage, etc.
A few other keys, like Backspace.
Team switching is G14-G17.
G1 is IWT, G18 invite the group.
G6 is toggle my melee toons IWT on/off (built into my 1-3 FTL keys DPS Spam).
Everyone will have a system that is slightly different (or maybe drastically), but it will work for them.
I have no idea what the "G" keys are... is this something I will be learning or needing when I make non-identical classes?

Extra keys on the Logitech G15 keyboard.
WOW! I had no idea this thing even existed. $100 is a bit steep for me to sneak past my wife. Then again, Im having a hard time justifying it myself. Is this keyboard a requirement for running a 5 man team? Is there another less used, less efficient, yet cheaper method?
Hell, ive been using my rinky old wireless logitech keyboard.

No, it's not. I don't use one, however I do use a Razer Naga (http://www.dual-boxing.com/showpost.php?p=289605&postcount=14) which I love. But you'd be surprised how many keys you can save using things like Regions/Clique healing and Multi-step macros in ISBoxer or HKN, round robin casting and modifiers.

The original G15 keyboard is nice.
18 G-Keys.
The newer G15, has six G-Keys I believe.
Both have M1/M2/M3, which load/unload a set of G-Keys.
So G1 does one thing with M1 enabled and something different with M2 enabled.
I don't actually use the default values for my G-Keys.
And instead use them as hot keys for an assortment of mapped keys.
They are an extra tool, more keys to assign.
In the category of Nice but not Necessary.
You could set up a series of Clickbars to duplicate the G-Keys.
They would be clicked on the screen, via the mouse.
But would essentially be unlimited extra hot keys, well subject to screen space.

I really like this idea. Actually, I have been reading some other posts about this, and how to do it still eludes me.
ISBoxer already has a mechanism to be able to make these correct? Since I rather like clicking, concurrently with key pressing, I think I would benifit from key pressing for one function (say dpsing), and clicking for another (say healing)
Ya, the more I contemplate this, the more I want to try it out. Is there a "clickbars for dummies" thread out there?
Im a go look.

I've not really used Clickbars much, as I am more of a Keybind clicker than a Mouse clicker.
My understanding of Clickbars (not 100% on this, as I don't use them much)...
You pick the graphic you want for each button, scaling and positioning it.
They can be placed in a grid, so many buttons across and so many deep; you could go a 1x1 grid for a lone button.
You can place multiple grids.
Each Clickbar should be set Target: Current Window.
Clicking a clickbar is the same thing as running a mapped key.
The mapped key can do whatever, and that is what really determines the target.
The mapped key can have multiple steps.
And can load/unload a clickbar (plus its image) as a step in a mapped key.
