so i just bought a new monitor (HG216D) 22" screen, i was wondering if theres some way i can get wow to play on my old 17" monitor as well.

right now i have both hooked up but when they are dualview (configured independently) wow runs crappy when on both monitors, when i configure it in horizontal span, wow runs fine however my 22" is forced at a resolution not its native which looks blurry. native res is 1680x1050. native res for 17" is 1280x1024.

i noticed theres an option in teh display properties > settings tap to extend windows desktop onto that monitor (17"), when unchecked it puts the monitor in standby. is there a way i can then try to run wow on that monitor thinking that the extending windows desktop feature is the cause of the drop in fps? if not then what do you suggest.

Iono, I run dual view on a 7800GTX across (2) 22" monitors and don't really feel hampered by the performance drop, maybe your card is just insufficient?

I'd also considering using CT View port mod for that setup. keep your game area constrained to your 22" and put buttons, etc. on the 17".

Although really, I'd be more tempted to just run WoW on the 22" and leave the 17" for surfing (Thottbot, wow wiki, dual-boxing.com, etc.) The heterogeneous setup is kind of annoying.

that's my $0.02

I'm using a 7900GS. the thing i wanted to do was have an alt account on the 17" while my main on the 22" both playing at different resolutions.

im running an older machine. amd X2 4000+ socket 939, 3gb DDR1 ram, 7900gs AGP, windows xp. dont want to spend the money on vista and get a new dx10 card(not to mention a whole new mobo/cpu/ram) just to be able to dual view.

also would it be possible to run in clone view yet use different wow windows on each monitor or is that only possible in span or dualview.

1680x1050 shrunk down to 1280x1024 will be blurry.

After you set to display in horizontal view, go into your WoW account that will display on the 22" monitor and change the video setting close to 1280x1024 res. This should help reduce the blurry.

If you use WoW Maximizer, you can also change the Account.wtf in the WTF folder.

I have a Question about this. I tried hooking up my 15inch monitor with my 22inch but cam across problems.
One is AGP and one is DVI but when I go to turn on dual view it just goes black for a sec and my main monitor goes blurry and it will not split my view.

Any tips on how I can get the two to work?

I got two 8600 SLI mode. Thanks.

AGP & DVI? Do you mean VGA & DVI? The "I got two 8600 SLI mode" part is the problem. Disable SLI and run in dual-view and it should work.
