View Full Version : Is five shadowstep rogues as LOL as it sounds to me?

The title basically says it all. I just imagine prowling around... shadow stepping 5 rogues and I would expect whatever it is to be dead...and vanishing. LOL. So many combinations, all of which are very appealing. Anyone have experience with this?

Your alpha strike will be better than probably anyone elses.
And the team should have the best stealth going, assuming rogues still have talents to increase stealth and to detect stealth.
Vanish, especially in conjunction with Cloak, will let you reacquire stealth, even in combat quite often.
This might be the best team for ganking, or forays into opposition cities.
I'd recommend a team of Ferals over a team of Rogues.
Ravage x5, won't hit as hard, but you're still looking at 80-90% crit chance against a full health target.
And Feral Charge - Cat will place you behind the opposition the same as Shadowstep.
Plus, you won't need to be in stealth to use it again.
Like rogues, Ferals can stealth, and then pick/choose their battles.
Ferals are about the Bleed damage, which are dots, which means they ignore armor.
So a significant portion of your damage does not care whether they're cloth or plate targets.
I really like that Ferals base move in Cat is +30%.
You can instant cast Travel Form for +40% movement.
Or Aquatic Form, in Vashj'ir for +100% swimming (with the minor glyph).
A shift, breaks snares and root effects, and you can: /cast !Cat Form, to power shift (shift to cat from cat, breaking any snare/root).
The big thing for me is healing capability.
Leader of the Pack will get you some amount of passive healing, nothing special for PvP, but certainly enough to almost never need to stop to heal while leveling.
Lifebloom and Rejuvenation are instant casts, and a Druid's Agility increasing their healing (talented); one Agi is the same as one Spell Power essentially.
Plus if you're in Cat Form, you heal a significantly increased amount.
Also, you have an 20% chance per combo point (which equates to 97% chance with 4 or 5 CP's), of an instant cast Nature spell when you use a finishing move.
With a very basic Mangle - Rake - Mangle - Mangle - Rip rotation, my DPS is very sick and I've never not had five instant casts with this feature.
Which gets you Regrowth, Healing Touch or Battle Rez, as instant casts.
Last benefit is dual-spec.
Which will allow your team to run PvE content.
And opens dungeon finder to you.
Rogues could certainly work.
But Ferals are a superior choice, imo.

Thanks for the great response. I have the 5 boomkin team leveling, so I'm hesitant to want to dual-spec them feral, just because then I'm stuck with two pvp groups as opposed to potentially making one of the dual spec a PvE spec.
What are the advantages to a all rogue team? I was thinking the offsetting kidney shots would be nice too, aside from diminishing returns.

The biggest advantage of 5 rogues is you can dismount mid-air, stealth/shadowstep and ambush your enemies, usually resulting in an instakill :)
And before I forget, ambushing and vanishing then hiding in a corner while teammates go crazy cause they couldn't figure out what just happened NEVER gets tiring ;)

Did rogues get nerfed or did something change dramatically? Cause my lols lasted a full year. Though I'm not sure if we're thinking on the same page cause I never did instances or arena with them.

I never found a use for the rogues, the leveling and gear was a serious chore.
In the end queueing for battlegrounds was a bit boring and camping them in org ganking people or joining in for the alliance fights was all I could find worth while..
The idea of having an all druid team is appealing, sadly the fatal flaw in that idea is that gnomes cannot be druids :p

The pre-HAT nerf was pretty over the top, basically endless CP and energy being the resource your waiting on.
Getting your team to be able to wait a moment for the HAT procs to roll in is a bit of a problem, I found it easier to lead with a single toon that would mostly attempt to cheap shot -> kidney shot and that toon do not much else. Then slightly after the opener of the stun locking rogue you would engage with the rest of the team. This would give the rest of the team CP that was actually on the target and usable. This was the maxdps I could get with crappy gear, wasn't one shot Ambush POOF.
Cheap Shot -> Auto Attack -> Auto Attack (collect HAT CP) -> 5CP Kidney Shot
Wait, Ambush -> Auto Attack (collect HAT CP) -> 5CP Rupture
Using shadowstep was most useful on the subsequent players.
