Hi,
This is no QQ thread, I only want to know if I'm the only one who thinks this.
My alliance team is 85 since first friday after launch, I am loremaster of Cataclysm, and I'm doing most of the dailies.
Something that really bothers me is the fact there are HUGE amounts of gather quests involved.
I don't really mind gathering, it just takes longer. And with the amount of ppl ninjaing stuff (deepholm crystal quest etc), it takes even longer.
But, there are quests, for example Beer Run and Glop, son of Glop, I really doubt if Blizzard has even thought about those quests.
Beer Run is an escort quest, and you have to do them on each char! Even in vanilla wow said: hey, someone in your party picked up an escort quest, wanna join in?
Glop , son of Glop, ppl just ninja the questnpc away from you.
What really doesn't make sense to me is the fact this wow is about Guilds, and working together as a team.
Gatherquests don't work in teams...it's every man for him self.
Escortquests which don't work for the party, every man for him self.
Questnpc's who can be tagged and ninjaad before you do... every man for him self.
To me it doesn't compute, anybody else feels this way?

I was wondering the exact same thing!
They seem to be promoting guild questing / leveling, so whats up with the 90% collection quests? I also feel like the quests were very poorly thought out, and the cut scenes are REALLY cheesy.
But hey, if the end game is good I could care less.

We're always going to face an uphill battle. They'll never make something really easy for us because that would be giving us an advantage, but if we can do something really well (cough click macros) they go out of their way to break it. Welcome to multiboxing.

I dunno, I consider the Dial In Authentication a softball thrown right out way! Maybe not specifically FOR boxers but it's a huge thing, to me at least.

WoW is supposed to be Multiplayer / Group based. Yet they penalize people for grouping I've never understood it. Collection quests are fine just make the items that drop lootable by all part members. They should also increase group exp to promote grouping. Instead they went the opposite direction. Then you get to end game and have to group with people that haven't grouped before. Very frustrating...

Out of the entire expansion, the only zone that has felt the slightest bit team-favored has been Twilight Highlands. Every single other zone was collection quest madness. I don't know if it's to retard the leveling curve or what but it really did get old. I thought WotLK was bad but Cata was so much worse. Bad enough that I'm having a very hard time getting motivated enough to level a second 80 team to 85.

Collection quests aren't unfriendly to groups, they are unfriendly to boxers. Group of 5 players can spread out and kill simultaneously, getting a bonus to xp in the process. Boxers, due to our focusing, can't really spread out like that. The only real limitation is respawns, which will slow down both.

I haven't hated collection quests so far. I have ONLY done 1/3-1/2 of Hyjal.
One was get 3 items, the items didn't despawn. You had to go to each char and click on it, but it never moved. Easy.
One was getting a drop from mobs. It was about 80% drop rate. But, because of respawn rates, I couldn't loot the mobs fast enough. I had to back up and make them stop spawning so I could loot. Instant mob spawn with unlimited firepower is really nice.
Sure there was one that made you pick up little things off the ground. Kinda sucked, but I just went to a place where there weren't many people (like almost none) and with infinite firepower, I could kill the mobs quickly. They didn't respawn too fast. Just the clicking on the little things sucks a little.
Everyone already figured out how to make the collecting little animals quest too easy. "/tar Animal#1, /tar Animal#2", IWT, win.
One other quest would let you pick up the items on 1 person and turn it in..... Nice.
Another has you pick up items at about 90% drop rate, but mobs are TINY and with firepower, you can AOE them down and you spend more time doing IWT than anything else.
So overall not really bad. I already want to skip boxing of Harrison Jones. I will see it single box so I don't have to deal with it, but I would like to see it for lore/fun.
I am very willing to skip collection quests if I can. But Cata seems to make quests VERY, VERY linear, so you kinda can't skip too many without missing out on large parts of content.

I have yet to do the glop son of glop daily. I did it once when I was going through the quests initially, but I have yet to not see a line of people standing where the shaman spawns trying to ninja their turn. So far I just dont even bother with that quest, The one to ring the crystal is the same way. When that one is up, there are usually 4+ people trying to ninja the dragon.
But there have been a lot of places that had players bottlenecked waiting for some quest boss mob to spawn. Into the Maw in Twilight Highlands was really bad where you had to free 4 of the earthen ring guys and kill the spiritbrain. I had around 20 peeps in there when I went through.
In time it wont be as bad, but its a design flaw that they need to work on for the next expansion. I also feel that its been way to quick so far. look how long it took for boxers to get all the heroic modes down. Its been 2 weeks and they are already down.

I am pretty certain several groups can finish Glop at the same time. I have never had a problem with doing it
