i was thinking of doing some world pvp with my 25 boxing once in awhile for a change of pace. Would it be best to be on a pvp server or would a pve server do just as well? Also how to i make a signature (like how you list your server and what toons you have and all that)? Thanks for you help, Doommachine

pvp server all the way, noone is going to be able to take you down with 25 toons, i remember back when i was on aegwynn, prepared was running around with 40 shammys at around level 40, a mage came up and did one arcane explosion and died from all the lightning shield hits back on him. was funny as hell. but ya, pvp server all the way.
As far as the signature go to www.wow-ratings.com (http://www.wow-ratings.com) and set it up there, i use the maxi toon list. it's pretty painless to setup and lots of goodies on that site too if you want to waste some time at work.

I came back to wow and boxing after a 2 year break. Both servers (pvp) i had toons on had a mass exodus of the opposing faction, making the ratio worse than 10-to1. Previously, both were among the top 10 in population when i quit and their balance was between 50-50 and 40-60.
I started over again using RAF and research the server populations on warcraftrealms.com or someplace like that. Anyway, I'm a lot happier on a 50-50 medium population pvp server. I have only played on pvp servers. Being on te losing end of a 10-1 ratio while leveling is a nightmare and will be even worse now with world flight. Being on the high end of the ratio means you'll rarely see people your level to kill in world pvp. Anothrr thing to keep in mind is that a low pop server's ratio can be changed with relatively few people getting fed up and leaving or quitting.

I have nevrr played wow on a pve server. A friend introduced me to the game and he was on spinebreaker, the then-highest pop pvp realm. I was anxious about it because of the hell of trying to play eq on a pvp server and losing stuff all the time. Im glad he talked me into it. I was big into premades back in the old days of honor grinding to high warlord. I made it to general before i burned out. By that time if your team wasnt online and you had to get some bgs on your own, hakf the players would be afking somewhere.
I quit the game after the people i pvped with all got warlord or high warlord and stopped caring about bgs. This was around the time arenas came out. I was a pretty awesome healer (priest) in pvp. You couldnt get that rank without learning a lot about pvp. I hated arenas because it seemed like a cooldown orgy or rock-paper-scissors. Also the priest died in the first 10 seconds of every match. This was before disc got buffed. I dont think we even had prayer of mending yet. I quit in disgust.
Then i came back a few months later. My pvp friends had all gotten into raiding so i decided to multibox up a team for bgs. I had five locks, five hunters, and five mages. This was before RAF and i didnt boost them. God that took forever to get to 70. Bm hunters were awesome back then and it was before the soul link nerf and the aoe nerf. I loved using seed of corruption on the allies on the bridge in av. Or aoeing them in drek's room with the mages. Or nuke their tank and bestial wrath/intimidation on the healers. And it was fun to cap snowfall and keep it with the hunters.
Anyway, i was hesitant about playing on a pvp server but now i'd never play on a pve server. Pvp is exciting and you're not going to lose anything anyway. Even if a bored high level camps your lowbies and you have no high levels yourself on that server, you can just log to another team for a while or even start a new one!

Make sure the data center for the server is near where you live, that will help your ping more then anything.

Ideally, you'd want to be on a server with a 40-45 to 55-60 split.
And be on the side with the fewer toons.
Close to 50/50 gets you a chance to win, instead of losing to vastly larger groups always.
And having fewer toons on your side increases the chances of both world PvP and getting all of your toons into TB.
