Anyone have any recommendations for a good mouse? Mine just died and I'm looking to get one tomorrow. Thanks

I play a lot of FPS and RTS games and I used to be a huge nay sayer about the "gaming mice". Over priced for not much more ...
Until I got a razer imperator... and now I'm using a razer mamba... its a rather amazing piece of machinery.
Theyre rather expensive... so if youre looking for a good budget mouse, the best one on the market ( IMO ) is the logitech MX518... If you sit around tightly, the price on those drop to about 30-35 bucks.

I'm currently using a Razer Lachesis (http://store.razerzone.com/DRHM/store?Action=DisplayProductDetailsPage&SiteID=razerusa&Locale=en_US&Env=BASE&productID=207541300) and I am very happy with it. People seem to like the Razer Naga (http://store.razerzone.com/DRHM/store?Action=DisplayProductDetailsPage&SiteID=razerusa&Locale=en_US&Env=BASE&productID=169418900) [or this link (http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.220156700/parentCategoryID.35208800/categoryId.37466100) for the new
upgraded version] as well with all the mouse buttons you don't really have to use the keyboard except for modifiers. In a few
weeks I will hopefully be giving both the Logitech G700 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826104377&cm_re=G700-_-26-104-377-_-Product) and the Razer Naga a test run because I would like more buttons on
a mouse [even though the Lachesis has about 11 w/o modifiers].

This new Tron mouse (http://store.razerzone.com/store/razerusa/en_US/pd/productID.221846300/categoryId.35208800) looks cool but I don't see any advantages to using it besides it having cool colors and what not. Also
note, if you read the reviews on the G700 on Newegg there are people talking about slight movements not registering with
the mouse in wireless mode. This issue has been addressed since then and Logitech worked with members on their own
forums to help resolve that issue, the latest drivers on the G700 no longer have this problem.

I've used nothing but Logitech products for years now. I'm currently using the g500, which has more than enough buttons, is easy to configure and you can change the weight for a better feel; i can change the resolution on the fly for more precise shooting in fps games and more control in wow. The g700 came out recently and is wireless. its going for $106 on ncix.com atm, the g500 is $89. the mx518 is certainly a great mouse as well.

My personal feeling of logitech vs razor is this: I have average fingers (not thin piano fingers) therefore i find the logitech mice more suited to my hand shape. the razors are extremely uncomfortable for me, being too thin, the buttons are tiny, etc. Technically speaking they are very similar i'm sure; I just suggest playing with a demo in a store before ordering a mouse online as you don't want to be stuck with something uncomfortable to your hand shape.

I use my logitech G5 and G9 and swear by them, however I also hear great things about all the razer series.

If you want something cheap, the Microsoft sidewinder mice are awesome too.

"Logitech MX revolution" FTW :) (but you can't buy it anymore :( )

Just received a G700. Nice feel, lots of buttons, can't wait to get home to program them.

I like lots of (useable) buttons on my mouse. but the Razor Naga goes beyond my capabilities of precision of my thumb :)

Still loving my Naga (http://www.dual-boxing.com/showpost.php?p=289605&postcount=14). I've got very few complaints about it, and if I had to do it again, I'd still buy one.

buy a razer naga

get used to it

love it for ever

On a serious note, if you buy the naga its a pain in the first two days but once u get used to it its kinda a must have.
Start binding just two or three skills to it first hand to get used to it, and you will get the flow in notime ;)

I've had a Logitech MX518 for about 4 years now I think. Other than the logo being worn off, it's the best mouse I've ever used. Eight buttons, and it's corded. Not totally sure they're still made, because I only see them new at Fry's, but they're around $50 I think.

Naga here too. I thought all those buttons would be overkill with a Saitek Command Unit under my left hand, but I was wrong.

DPS and tanking keys on the left, Heals and utility on the right. You find all those buttons with your thumb easily after a few days, but the last row (10-12) are a little difficult to get at so I use them for pre-combat functions, like setting focus or adding raid icons.

Even if you don't think a 17 button mouse is for you, it may be worth a try, it's a decent mouse even if you only used a fraction of the buttons (which you wouldn't =P)

So many people complaining about the Razer mice being fiddly. Here's the thing though:

Logitech's ergonomics are so basic it's something you can appreciate as soon as you put your hand on the thing (like they were designed to be display models). Razer's you will need maybe a couple of days to fully adjust to, because they're so different. After using Logitech mice for a long time I've bought both a Lachesis and a Naga, and for both I spent the first few hours thinking I'd wasted money on something I'd never get used to using, then I just got on with adjusting to them.

I discovered the Razers are far superior, because they make you learn to use your hands more effectively, and because developing muscle memory is what allows you to find all the buttons just as fast as one sat right under your finger all the time.

Consider this: If blind people didn't take the time to learn to read braile, they wouldn't be able to read, but they do, and they read just as well as anyone else, and yet any non-blind person who has ever run their fingers over braile just takes the easy option, and thinks to themselves 'I could never learn to do that'.

I learned to ride a bike, so I don't need training wheels any more. I learned to use a Razer, so I don't need a Logitech any more.

The one I've been using is a Cyborg RAT-9. I really like having adjustable width and length so it fits my hand better, and the on-the-fly snipe mode, 4-position sensitivity adjuster and toggled button configs are quite lovely.

That thing looks really nice, thanks to this thread I'm now going to try either a Naga or a RAT-9, I'd love the customization of the Saitek (Plus I love all Saitek products) but the buttons on the naga would be sweeeeeeeet.....

I'd like to cast my vote for the Razer Naga as well, it's awesome and I couldn't picture myself playing without one.

I just want to point out that you don't need to be able to reach or use all 12 side buttons for it to be useful. I myself am only using the two first rows (1-6) plus 8 as those are the ones I can comfortably reach with any sort of precision. That's still 4-5 more buttons available than a regular mouse.

If you're keen on a regular mouse I can recommend the Logitech G500, if it's still available. It's a modern MX518 with better button placement.
