Hi all,
so we are a week into the expansion. I have been slowly leveling my first team to 80. Have not been playing as much as I would have liked and so currently just a little over have way through level 83.
What is everyone else up to? Leveling to 85? Just doing trades?

Sounds like a lot of people are making a lot of money... ive never been that industrious.

My team is like 82.5, I spent an hour or two last night learning throne of the tides. Lot of movement in there, but was good to get it down. I did it again right after to make sure it wasnt a fluke. Will likely do it a few more times to get some more blues and then its off to hyjal for me.

I'd like to be 85 before doing any of the zones past hyjal, ill make my money that way.

Yes, I have considered just leveling my tradeskills to make gold. My current team has a miner, alchemist, herbalist, enchanter, Tailor, LW and skinner. So pretty much everything covered. Do the trainers in the level 85 zones have additional patterns or should I just level my level 80 alts with the trainers in SW?

Theres a quest in deepholme near the end that allows you to pull close to 20k exp a min. Don't be stupid and complete it like I did.

Already completed it lol. Maybe I will do this on the next team.

leveling my main shaman team slowly (currently maybe half way to 82).
Got second shaman team to 64
Got second hunter team to 60
Trying to get worgen druid lowbies geared to at least be able to do dungeons at their level (RAF creates gear problems).
Lowbie Pallies leveling via dungeons

My other toons/teams are on hold for now until I get my lowbie pallies/druids to Outland then going to get my rogues busy. I also have a lowbie team of priests..not sure if i will level those or not.

I spent a good 5 hours farming leather last night... i was getting about a stack every 2 mins... was insane.

Sold most stacks @ 200 a stack.

Where were you farming at? I have only really just been skinning as I level, not really farmed but thinking I should probably try to start selling some of the stuff I have farmed so far, have a lot of enchanting, mining and skinning mats sitting in my bags. So far from this one team I believe I have made abotu 10k from just questing, not too shabby lol.

Still doing exams. Still drinking tea. Still looking after a baby. but my (4th) team is at level 49.

For those struggling to get from 40 to 42 for BRD, just outside to the southeast there are a load of ogres grouped nicely which can be mutilated in seconds and provide reasonable xp (I think i cleared them 10/15 times for 2 levels).

BRD very boring so now questing.

My main team is 84 and I have not leveled any professions or gathered any resource with herbalism or mining. I would like to level up a few of my professions and try to make some cash after I hit 85. Looks like I would have to purchase all the mats off the AH. I bet thats going to be expensive.

Ugh is it where you go into the center temple (phased version) to those doors to fight off the mobs trying to invade... you gotta kill 10 of x and 1 of y, and the NPC's are there helping?? It's probably 2nd or 3rd last quest of the zone.

I wondered about that?

I've been lvling up my main team, wasted a ton of hours doing Stonecore. Wow that first boss is tricky. I wouldn't say he's harder then Devourer of Souls or Ick/Krick, but I've had a harder time with him. Gave up on the last boss, will go back and try her again when I'm 84.

I've only done 2 instances so far and they are definitely harder then any of the BC/WoTLK's on normal, which is scary.

Have the main team most of the way through 82nd, but haven't played them for a few days. Did every quest in Hyjal and have done everything I've found so far in Vash'jr.

The mats for professions dropped in prices significantly, so did alchemy to 525 on this team; still cost me 28,800gp. First day of transmutes, the mats for 5 transmutes cost just under 4k, and I got lucky with 10 Truegold between the five toons. Have sold those for a tad under 16k. So alchemy costs have been 33k and profits are 16k so far. Not enough Volatile Air on the AH today, to do 5x transmutes yet.

Have been playing the DK's a little, they're midway through 77th. Decided to get them epic flyers (280%) and Azeroth Flying; have not bought the 310% flying on them yet.

Also messing around with which toon I'd like on which team. Going to mix it up a lot for this expansion.

Pretty sure it will be:
- 5x Feral Druid (Alliance PvP)
- 4x Shaman (Alliance PvP)
- 1x Holy Pally, 4x Frost Dk (Horde PvP)
- 1x Disc Priest, 4x Affliction Warlock (Horde PvP)
- 1x Blood DK, 1x Disc/Shadow Priest, 1x Elem/Resto Shaman, 1x Demo Warlock, 1x Arcane Mage (PvE Heroics)
- And two more teams, purely for tradeskills.
- Still tempted to level another team, most likely 5x Shockadins.

Also got distracted there by Firefly again. Had not seen it in a while, so watched the first disc the other night.

So here is a question, has anyone with a team at 85 checked/estimated the time it took them?
From what I have seen in other posts it seems most people with lvl 85 teams did it via questing? And also seemed like they did the two starting zones?
I have been doing the linear questing and so did Hyjal and not Vash, currently just started Uldum which I am not too happy with (have a quest at present trying to get 4 of an item with a low mob count in the area and also around 30% drop rate)
Ualaa: did it take that much gold to level your alchemists from 450 - 525? Or was it from 0 - 525? Does it seem like it will make money now that you are leveled and ready to trade on the AH?

Wear your heirlooms @ lvl 80 to make 80-81 faster.
Grind lvl 81 maybe up to 82 if you can stand it in BRC normal.
Hyjal Quest here till 83
Deepholm Quest till 84 -- Throw in a stonecore run or 2 to switch it up.
Twilight Highlands Quest till 85 -- Love this place. You can always mix in some Lost City, Vortex Pinnacle, HOO, Grim Batol (I did) on the grind to 85.

Heirlooms did not work for me when I tried them at Cataclysm launch, I tried having them on and then taking them off and XP was the same, has this changed or is there a bug with the Heirlooms?

Have my shaman team at 84 and a third right now, and taking a small break tonight, while I clean up the back room, to turn it into the winter office/family room.

(My home is weird, one half is always cool, the other always warm. This forces me to move my PC and TV's twice a year.)

Figure I'll have enough rested to blow through the rest of it. however, that Deepholm thing sounds interesting, I'll have to track down that quest.

I set sail on the fail boat during the midnight launch and bought the 5k faster fast flying on accident cleaning out my bank account with one holiday left to go on the 310 meta. After that I made 2k g a day selling stacks of elementium bars for 300g. I do need it for my own blacksmithing needs, but i figure its well worth parting for at 300g a stack. Im 60% into 84 after clearing Hyjal, Deepholm and 30quests shy of the quest achievement in Uldum. I should hit 85 tonight as I have full rested to the end of the level by going out of town for the weekend.

After 85, its off to buy rings from Deepholm, and spend 4000 justice points and begin the gear grind all over.

I made a quick few thousand gold from very lazily farming cata mats, but the gold rush seems to be mostly over on my server. So I spent under 2k of my gold on buying a TON of dirt cheap pre-cata materials and now have one of every profession except for leatherworker up now to beginning cata levels.

I got my druid to 83, but there she will sit until I return from vacation. I haven't really boxed any cata content yet because I really don't feel like questing amongst the throngs, and I'm going to wait until I get back from vacation to begin trying dungeons.

That was 450-525, one team of five.

After day 1 of transmutes, have basically made a third of it back.
There was not enough Volatile Air on the AH to do a set of transmutes this morning; need 16 more.

Basically going with the tradeskills early, costs a lot but the Truegold sells for a large amount too.
Alternatively, waiting a month and I'm sure it will cost a lot less to level, the mats will be less and Truegold will sell for less too.
Either way, worth it.

A week into Cataclysm and I haven't even bought it. Yeah I've found it hard to believe myself, lol.

Guess the wait killed me. I remember being stoked as hell in the begining but all that waiting really did me in. Despite all it's awesomeness my excitement just isn't there.

So I am hoping that my WOW bug comes back. I've been playing City of Heroes for a few month while I waited for Cataclysm and ended up getting a bit hooked on it. I'm even dual boxing COH now and thinking about going even further with it. But after using ISboxer for so long- I'm friggen spoiled.

Anyway enough of my silly rants! Feels strange though not being there the first day for an expansion. First one I've missed.

I have rerolled my main: a goblin shaman. Made him during the night from tuesday to wednesday, and I just dinged 82. Tagged some other toons I had sitting at various lower levels for ages along the way. Once the shaman is 85 (i hope somewhere tomorrow) I'll start alternating between my 4x dk+priest team, my 5x shamans and my solo paladin.

The 2 teams will first quest a bit to get some gear, and then mainly level through bg's. I'm not in a rush with them. Have bought mats to level all my alchemists up as far as the price was OK on the AH. Still need to level the profs up though.

Wow, how many hours a day are you playing??

- tuesday night i did goblin starting zone (what a long and boring trip that was)
- wednesday i did 60-66 (as i granted the remaining lvls)
- thursday 66-68
- friday 68-72
- saturday 72-76
- sunday 76-80
- monday 80-82

I don't really know how many hours a day, but I guess i'm online for about 12 hours day, meanwhile I cook dinner, watch some tv, have many smoke breaks and tend to answer work related emails. The lvl speed is really fine in combination with heirlooms and the reduced xp needed for 70-80. The fact that i've raided and played an elemental shaman solo quite extensively helps as well, if it would 've been a mage it would be way slower as I hardly know that class for example.

And you will hate leveling anyway.. TONs of collection quests! I leveled solo with my raiding Sham. I just started leveling my pal and mage together last night. I might bring the whole team up at some point. But I have enjoyed soloing for this past week.

I will say that although I am playing my main shaman solo, I have my druid parked over spawn points of herbs/ore while i run heroics/raid. I have leveled him from 80-82 on nothing but gathering rofl. He could fly into Twilight Highlands and Uldum from the start, made tons of cash AND got my JC and Eng on my shamy maxed from his gatherings 8)

My first team made it to 85. So far finished almost all quest starting from mount hyjal till twilight highlands. I joined one of my 85s to a guild with well some friends. Just to make things more smooth on multiboxing with a few of my slaves being well geared. Although as I expected, there are already fixed groups doing dungeons every day which I am in not one of them, ending up to have to Pug or pull out my team. Around 326 item level across my team at the moment, mostly on quest rewards, some dungeon loots.

Now trying to level a few more classes to adjust the group configuration per instance. Learning how to do some dungeons on normal with my slaves but its getting harder. I have made alot of money just by questing. Crafting is quite slow, specially blacksmith, since I don't see any fast way of leveling. Enchanting, minding are easy to come by. Tailoring is quite horrendous. Will have to level jewelcraft and alchemy soon.

prega team, 5 pala, hitted 85.
crudele team, 5 shamans, at lvl 84. im levelling enhance specced for fun :) - impressive burst!
worked some professions: atm maxed 6x alchemy, 2x miners, 1 herbalist, 2x skinners, some other skills on the way.
burnt in last week about 100k gold, mainly for artisan riding skills and professions levelling.
while levelling prega team,i tryed some instances:
brc(done), the stonecore(2/4), vortex pinnacle(1st boss).

PS: if you have many alchemysts, i m using an interesting trick. it works good in my server. i m using it to be active on business.
i maxed 6x alchemysts.
then, i levelled some more alchemysts just to lvl 485.
at 485 i can use their volatile trasmutation, 15x life-> 14-16+ air. volatile air is the main issue here: it is rare and really expensive.
but volatile life is pretty common and farmable with herbalism easily, by ie myself too while levelling shamans.
this conversion requires uldum area, i used a lock to summon my chars there. i have all lvl 80, so i m not sure if there is some limitation to uldum summoning. i have not met it. i choose a place close to tanaris fp, the top of a temple building. a char, with artisan move to tanaris for banking.
in this way, i m already active in ah market with 6x truegold per day.
1x truegold costs me about 500/600g. selling in large range...between 2000-3500g eo (min-max), depends by days.
if i want i can undercut easily, 1500g is good price and still offers good earning.

I started with release but work is pretty hectic now so haven't been able to play a ton.

Team is currently 83. Been working through the dungeons as I level as my skills/setup were a bit lacking heading into the expansion and trying to learn/improve as I go.

Haven't done any gold earning as didn't have much gold at the start of the expansion, and didn't feel like fighting folks for harvest nodes.

Realized while learning the dungeons my setup is a bit unorganized/messy and lacking (macros, keys etc.)

So, will be reorganizing things and then will level /quest to get use to new layout/macros and try some more dungeons when I feel comfortable with things.

Overall though having a blast so far.

Will definitely give that a try.

Fire/Water/Life are 20-25g, on average on my server.

9+ million xp for 84-85 is awful but yes it is faster.

Glad they made it faster after this long who really wants to spend that long grinding out long boring levels. 84-85 is killer though specially with Uldum, worst zone ever. Why a cut scene for every quest? WHY?!

You can go to twilight highlands the instant you hit level 84. Just go to the quest board in orgrimmar and it will give you the breadcrumb out there. Level 84-85 will go soooo much faster. Better quests, and more xp per quest.
