Couldn't mine/skin heroic bosses (wotlk)

I don't have cata yet so I am capped at 80 (fyi). Doing my daily heroic I got Nexus and after downing the rock boss and final boss I couldn't mine or skin them anymore. I know I have done this in the past. Did I miss something in the patch notes or is this a bug. I use tuk ui and the error message was supressed so I don't know what it said. I had everything looted and the mine pick and skin knife icon but no joy on gathering them.

Thoughts?

They apparently changed this unintentionally as part of raising the cap on skinning to 525.

I think this changed as part of 4.0.1. Something to do with the underlying updates to max level mining/skinning and heroic bosses being skull level still.

I think if you have the gatherer enchant (+5 skill to mining/skinning/herbalism) on a set of gloves then you can still skin/mine them if you have max skill since that will get you to 455 which I believe is what you need in order to skin/mine those bosses.

Kinda what I figured. Since they are L82 that would mean +10 skill to mine? Oh well, there isn't much competition for resources outside of dungeons (for alt team professions). I won't miss those bosses at all. Just happy I wasn't going crazy again. :)

Did they raise it to 525??? Last I checked, it was 455, so you could probably get by with a +5 enchant on some gloves...

It's 525 cap for level 85 folks.

He was referring the mining level required to mine the boss in Nexus, which is 455. Which is attainable at lvl 80 if you have the Gatherer enchant on a set of gloves.
