So I have a lvl 11 goblin, and I also have a lvl 70 and lvl 80 (all 3 on seperate accounts) that I eventually want to triple box together. So I'm trying to quest by having all 3 of us ungrouped, but with me tagging the mob first and then them 1 shotting it.
However I found that this does lead to me getting a lot less XP (which I thought wasn't the case since I thought whoever tagged it gets all the xp and loot). Is there anyway I can use my composition to my advantage? Perhaps even if I do get less XP (seems to be about half), I'll be able to kill things much quicker and quest much faster as a result. Do you think this would work for me?

Get to 20 and use your (hopefully strong AoE equipped) 80 to run SM Cathedral about 60 times (~5 to 10 mins a run, depending on if you loot). Then go to Scholomance, then BRD. In a week my new group is now 71.

Someone correct me if I am wrong here but I believe they changed it a while back that if you tag the mob and someone ungrouped kills it that the person that kills it will leech most of the xp away from you. The exception to this is when the mob shows as being green (instead of gray) to the person that kills it. At that point I believe the tagger gets full xp.
For example, when I was level 10 and had an ungrouped 80 killing mobs after I tagged them then I got like 10-20xp per kill. When I was level 74 (which iirc was green for my 80) and I had that ungrouped 80 do the same thing then I think I got full xp (like 1000-1500xp). The advantage at low levels is that you can have the 80 gather lots of mobs for you to tag (or do instances with lots of mobs) and kill them all at once. You get less xp per kill but you can kill tons more in the same amount of time.
To be honest I think I just ended up grouping up my 80 and doing instances because overall it gave me more xp/hour then I could get out in the world.

For tag boosting to work well you have to kill mobs that are not grey to anyone, those inside the group and those outside the group ....
I forget if the level 72's at the dragonblight camp are gray to 80's or not but if they are not thats where you should go (the 5 camps of soldiers near naxx). Group one 80 and the lowbie to tag in a group and the rest out of the group (make sure they don't tag). You will get 11/99 of the exp on the lowbie which with a level 72 mob I am sure will be max red exp. Plus you get the group bonus (not much with 2 person group but more then zero). Of course the more out of group killers that you have the better, 2 level 80s wont kill mobs super fast.
Having the lowbie in DB increases your pull radius also lol .....
The hard part is keeping the lowbie alive but your 80 in the group should draw agro from the tag its the "late comer" mobs that will attack the lowbie.

If there's more than an 8-10 level spread (the number varies, but is close to that), the lower toon only gets the percentage of experience equivalent to the percentage of damage they dealt.
There is an exception to this for boosting.
If your lower toons are in a group, then pets (and totems count as pets) don't take away from their experience but player damage still does.
