So been needing a new keyboard and what not and been multiboxing lately. What are the advantages and things i can do with a G15 aside from using a regular keyboard...I know there can be programmable buttons but looking to see just bout everything i can do with it. Thanks all

Well I have a G15 setup with IS Boxer. The main things I use apart from the regular keys are G1-G6 (the extra keys), I have the mapped in IS Boxer to do different things (I'm sure you can set them up in other programs as well). I noticed you can also turn the M1, M2 and MR lights on and off. I don't think there is much out that uses the LCD (apart from the standard WoW info you get when your not multiboxing)

I use a G15 (v1, 18 keys), and LOVE it and would never go back. I started off small and expanded. First was 3 keys, 1 DPS, 1 healing and 1 misc. I mapped them to G13-G15. Simple easy to reach. They really haven't changed in 2-3 years. Since I now have Macs, I picked keys that can move easly across mixed platforms. I settled on Numkey 1-9 mapped to G1-3, 7-9, 13-15, then CTRL-Numkey 1-9 mapped to the others.

Now I have keys for ground mount, flying mount. vent push-to-talk. I have 6 keys that I can use for pretty much anything. I have 2 keys for move alts forward and move alts backward.2 keys for Jamba-Use item bar, 1 key for accept all macro and 1 key for buff (triggers smartbuff).

I love that I can see my chars stats. I like that I can see CPU and RAM usage, whispers that come in, vent info when someone talks, and BG stats. I like having controls for volume, media player and lighted keys. I just really like it all.

I don't use the 2nd or 3rd set of keys much, I made a script to type in "/script LeaveBG()" and "/script LeaveParty()", but don't use them much. Jamba-team disband works great and I don't do BGs much since WG. I am crossing my fingers that Jamba adds a Jamba-team LeaveBG so I can leave the other part off.

I wish WOW used G keys natively, but it probably won't ever happen, but you can just use modifiers with keys (use CTRL-SHIFT-A, CTRL-SHIFT-B, etc). But to have keys that you reach easily and can be used to do a lot.

I liked mine before I switched to ISBoxer, but now most of the things I would use the keyboard for I just do in ISBoxer. It's not a bad keyboard, but I just don't need the macroing capability for WoW.

I have a v1 as well.
18 G-keys.
I also use the M1, M2 and M3 keys.

Basically an extra 21 hotkeys, which can be assigned to mapped keys in IS Boxer.
None of them do anything in warcraft, if IS Boxer is not running.

There are other G-xx keyboards, with the same number of assignable keys.
They might be missing the virtually useless LCD screen or whatever.
It is the G-Keys that count, really.

You could create virtual G-Keys, with click bars.
If you wanted mouse click keys, on the screen.

Kind of neat that you can assign modifiers to the G-Keys, with IS Boxer.
So G1, Alt G1, Shift G1, Ctrl G1, Alt+Shift G1, etc can all do different things.

I rather like my G15, I don't make use of most of it's capabilities. It's a good strong quality kb.

I use the G keys for some healing macro's. Group heal etc that I only use when needed. In ISBoxer you can set the mapped key to a "G" key and have it press what ever normal button in game, very handy.

Its not a keyboard that one needs but even ppl who just use it as a normal kb don't regret the purchase.

I also use the v1 g15 and love it. Its boggled my mind how Logitech has gimped all the future versions (less buttons, smaller screens). You would want a g510, its closer to the original g15 then the latest 15 or 19. I check vent with the lcd during raid night and have all sorts of keys mapped out, like the above posters for mounting, drinking etc. I picked up a g13 as well which I thought I would use the thumb stick for moving the slaves; however i realized my desk has no room and sadly it sits on a shelf in the closet. If you have the room its a great addition. There is a g15 button addon which lets you place your bars in order of the key setup, I find that to be quite useful on some toons as well. hope that helps your decision :)

Yeah just got one today. Took 5 stores to find one, but lucked in when i got to CompUSA *AkA Tiger Direct* and was 10 dollars cheaper then what i was seeing online which was cool....Love the luminating keys...not to overpowered where it can light the room. Plus it feels great. Havnt got'n into the macroing of it yet so still gotta get into that. Now can i bind any of the G keys in WoW itself? Or only in ISBoxer

I think.. U can only do it in is boxer, otherwise u have to use the logitech tool to map the keys to normal keys and then bind them in game again. But I'm no expert on the g15.

I don't know about ISBoxer, but you can use modifiers, like ctrl+alt+s on a single keypress.

too bad you can only use the modifier keys of the current language layout, and not the unused keys like OEM1-3 ...

there is even a forum for the keyboard: http://www.logitechusers.com/

cheers

I have had one tucked in my closet for a while now. I found it was to damn big... it left no room for my mouse lol.

I upgraded earlier last year from a G15 to a G19, but that G510 looks pretty interesting. I like the smaller footprints of the newer G series keyboards, however the G15 served its purpose for over 3 years. But it was put to the closet due to its size.

Its a great keyboard, i love my G19, but for the cost and features i rather have a G510.

I would buy a normal keyboard and a Logitech G13 game pad. The thumb stick is incredibly efficient to control character movement (once used to it, the WASD reflex can be hard to lose), that's a lot of programmable keys (24) and all the non programmable keys (10 more) are recognized by ISboxer.

Definitely, i do recommend a G13, as i use that as well, Plus some other customizable keyboards. Like an X-Keys [ http://www.xkeys.com/xkeys/xkpro.php ]"] ("http://www.xkeys.com/xkeys/xkpro.php)
