Where should I position my Horde teams for the most efficient start after launch? I would think I will need old world flight training and want to get started questing asap. I know very little about cata and have little time to devote to wow so I'm looking for the fastest, most efficient start.

you could tell us what you planning to do first up....
ill assume your trying to get a team to 85
Have your hearth set in ORG/Stormwind sitting out front of the flying trainer before cata
when you first log in train old world flying 250g ea
since your not going for world first i suggest go buy all your new professions.

i believe "Blackrock caverns" is the first instance available so if you want to instance up you can fly there
or sit yourself there before Cata so you can discover it strait away and farm it (to be a bit more competitive in your leveling)

so.. that's about it i believe

I would check out the wowhead quest chain write ups, their quest tracking tool is useful if you /reloadui and then push the client update. You can look at a zone right now and see they are pretty self contained and critical path it by hand pretty much.

I'm hearing...

Have 25 dailies completed, in Icecrown/StormPeaks.
Be bound in SW/Ogr.

Log in, and turn in your quests, which will get you 30% through 80th.
Hearth.
Purchase new food/water, and the Old World flying license.

Take the bread crumb quest of choice, for the underwater zone or hyjal.
Although the instancing might be the way to go too; way more repetitive but only your toons.

You can discover Black Rock Cavern already so my plan is:
Log in...hand in my dailies, hearth, food/water, new skill, queue LFD BRC (go discover it before cata now!).
