I guess some people can't tell a 5 from a 7 lol, you got caught in the resub-traffic :-)
or maybe, it was just a bug /shrug.

did you manage to get in eventually?

That is really poor. Wait, let me rant about the the useless (takes too long) GM service as well!

They are back up now. This was maintenance believe it or not. Not ambiguous at all!

Its because everyone is trying to pre-order Cataclysm at the last minute. Someone is saying today is the last day you can pre-order (not confirmed), which would make sense.

I waited just over an hour to get onto the site and did my pre-orders. Currently downloading the new files. Good times.

Nice. I need to re-sub on one of my accts. I've got a hour and a half wait ahead of me because I'm an idiot :)

Why preorder when the shelves are going to be full of cataclysm boxes regardless?

To log in and play at midnight.

Not that the servers will be playable at midnight. But one must keep hope alive!

Did mine a few days ago, no queue so I'm lucky too.

Well, if you are NOT planning on going to a midnight launch at your local Gamestop, then most stores start opening between 9 and 10 am. So you have to get up on launch morning, actually drive to a store, spend gas, pay sales tax, then bring it home, download/install the final files and finally get to play.

Or, you can pre-order now, download the files now, and start playing at midnight (or in the case of us East Coasters, 3am).

Are all you guys updating all accounts? Or just 1 or 2? I am totally on the fence, I updated one and now thinking of doing at least one more, BUT 5 accounts to upgrade all at once would seem like a lot of money lol.

My crystal ball is showing....ah yes, I see.....very many.......server crashes in the near future.

Seriously though, hoping for a smoother launch than previous expansions.

I've updated all of the accounts (five).
There's no line up, in the cold outside the store at midnight.
Instead, actually play at midnight, assuming the servers are stable (unlikely).

Also no install process, that will all be done via patching.

Upgraded 3 of my 5 accounts the other day, I was just going to wait it out for a week before doing the other two since the likely hood of my server working correctly is slim. After the last patch 4.03 it took Blizz 3 weeks to get us stable. Aggramar is over populated but I'm hoping with that last patch they finally fixed the big issues that is why I stuck with just 3 accounts upgraded.

preorders are $20 cheaper for me (40 instead of 60). On a total of 6 toons (my wife + 5mine) that's 2 free upgrades.
Plus, i don't need to drive or have any issues with the blasted DVDs . Took me forever for WOTLK. somehow my drive didn't read those pesky dvds

then again, i did all that a couple weeks back, so no queues for me

See I dont understand you people that only do half your accounts. Why would you not do them all? Why do things half-assed?

You do realize that the billing servers are going to be SMASHED by people trying to become worgen or goblins and you might struggle to upgrade your other 2 or 3 if you decide you want to.

And isn't the point of boxing to level them all together at the same time so that your not screwed over by phasing and being on different quest chains etc.

I dont ever want a repeat of that. I've upgraded all of mine as soon as the digital upgrade came out.

I've also bought 4 races changes for my Shamans this morning so that tommorow I can make them Goblins if I want too or another race as I'm bored of Orc Female. :D

Got my CE in the mail today, and will probably just play through with one toon to 85, then upgrade the others once I have all the guild perk's and what-not.

Looking forward to tomorrow afternoon, gank-fest for sure :D

I neither need nor want the boxes/CDs/etc, I just want the game. Pre-ordering means that I get only what I want, which is the data. Having to go to the store (or ordering through mail order) and getting five boxes with DVDs and books and packaging when all I really need is a couple of GB of data simply isn't very efficient. I was really glad when I learned that they were going to allow digital pre-orders.

Edit to add: I upgraded five accounts. Once I started playing again after a couple of months off, I decided to consolidate my characters into five accounts and forget the rest. I didn't really need to upgrade the five prior to release, but I figured I'd get it out of the way and not worry about it.

I think EatCarbs was talking about the "in-store" preorder where you pre-order from the local shop and then go pick up your reserved copy on release day. Assuming that is what he was talking about, I agree that it's probably pointless considering there will be a bajillion copies of WoW:Cataclysm on the shelves. Smaller towns or rural customers I might see wanting to do that just from a limited availability angle.
