View Full Version : [ISBoxer] Keep on running.

I frequently have a problem where one or more of my toons, usually slaves but on a rare occassion the active window, will continue to run or turn after receiving a move command through IS Boxer.

I noticed this behavior while questing but it didn't cause too much concern since it caused only an occassional death. Now that I'm running instances, however, I frequently need to move toons independant of the main either by the provided formation actions in IS Boxer or by broadcasting movement keys. Let me explain the behavior more precisley.

When required to move my team forward, I will turn on broadcasts then send my toons the forward key and turn off broadcasts right away. I the same hand so double presses aren't happening. Other times, I will simply tap the Hotkey set up to one of IS Boxer's formations such as the flying V. What will happen is some of the toons will continue running in the direction of that broadcast or formation command. They will respond to follow but, once reaching my main, they just keep on running right through. The only way to stop the behavior is to have that toon get the same movement command, by key not mouse, again pressed and released. With no time to switch windows to each afflicted toon in sequence while fighting a mob, I must resort to broadcast. That'll fix the problem for the problem toon but will often create the issue anew in another slave.

As you can imagine, this causes tragic wipes with the party scattered all around a boss and well out of rez range of one another.

Clearly, IS Boxer is sending the press but not the release for the movement. How do I correct this behavior?

Rather then enabling broadcast for movement, do it with a mapped key.

Take a look at the "Others Jump" which is a default key generated by the wizard.
It sends the command to Window: Other Without Current (or a very similar wording).

I've gone and created some independent slave movement keys.
In my case the Up/Down/Left/Right arrows, send those keys to the slave windows but not the main.
So I can use them to turn or move the slaves, without moving the main.
And can switch from one master to another, and the current slaves are the ones that move.

The hotkeys should always have a release after the press by design, though if you toggle key maps off (or that mapped key, etc) while it's pressed, the release might get lost. That's the only way I can imagine this happening

I experienced this problem aswell, now I read about it. It's always my mage who runs off. No IWT used. Mainly just a /follow leader macro in wow and then break it by pressing arrow:down.

I don't enable or disable a key map in this process.

Because of the occasional run off with IWT I mostly notice it though. I think it caused 1 overpull which wiped me.

Thanks for the replies, folks.

Some further observations:
- it's not a lag issue
- not only happens with broadcast but also with Ulaa's suggestion up top and also the built-in Follow Me and Interact With Target
- IWT spammed for melee teams can pretty reliably cause this problem each encounter :(
- more often affects same account(s) consistantly during a session but not the same account(s) across different sessiosn

I'm wondering if it could be a FPS issue?

If you have the slaves limited to less than 15 FPS, that can cause follow issues.
I usually have mine capped at 20 FPS (slaves) and 60 FPS (master).

I've noticed a bit of extra lag, since Cataclysm launch.
Guessing just a lot more people on the servers.. since this includes toons still running Grizzly Hills dailies.
I just decided to turn settings down a little further on the slaves.

*nods*

This can look simply awesome if you can stay on top of things because they run to the mob..whack it then keep running..hit follow/iwt again...whack..run out. total chaos surrounding the mob you are attacking.

Today, I've noticed my mouse repeater has enabled itself several times.
This is with me just killing mobs, with my DPS 1 - DPS 4 keys.
Had a toon run over the cliff and die, because double mouse buttons was run, instead of only moving the leader and having the slave follow the leader.

Two Steps
Step 1
- Do mapped key - FTL Assist Me - Current Window
- Do mapped key - Melee IWT (Melee group only, which is the entire team).
Step 2
- Send "1", "2", "3", or "4" to all windows.

It's weird, sometimes they turn broadcasting on, and sometimes not.
I don't see anything in there that would account for it.
Don't have any Send Next Click, etc.

Weird.

Not sure if this is related at all, but I've had a similar problem to the OP for a while now.

On occasion, I'll be running along with my slaves on /follow (via ISBoxer and Jamba), I decide to switch to another toon, so I release the move key (W), then press the "G key" (I have a Logitech G15 keyboard) for the toon I want to become the master and when I do that, one or 2 toons will sometimes just keep running in the same direction they were when following he original master. It feels like I sometimes switch masters too quickly and need to stop moving, wait a couple seconds, then switch to prevent this from happening. It is most annoying in Battlegrounds, where I need to react quickly.

Hm, i am seeing the same issue.. In the middle of a fight, mouse broadcasting may suddenly get enabled. And with click to move active on the toons they go running off if i right click anywhere.
Quite strange since i haven't done any particular changes to the config.

Ditto, no changes to the configuration.
Don't think there was an update to IS/IS:Boxer.

Kind of confusing as to what could cause it.
Did not have it at all yesterday, and played for five hours.
Had it a lot the day before, again no changes to the set up.

I can't confirm broadcast enabling in combat by itself but, now that you bring it up, I have finished several battles that seemed to very nearly go wrong only to notice that it was on. I always just figured that it was something I had done by mistake.

Anyways, I still don't have a happy resolution to toons getting stuck in run when following but the slave-only movement keys have definatley alleviated the problem when I was broadcasting. Thanks for that.
