I'm currently getting my crafters in order for the release.

I had a few questions on what others have done.

I currently have 6 lvl 80s, (with about 4 lvl 60s I'll work on later on).

My current crafters on my main team.

Pali: Jewelcrafer/Mining both max
Shaman: Engineering(working up)/??
Priest: Enchanting/Tailor both max
Shaman ??/??
Mage ??/??

off team
Druid LW/Herbalist both Max.

I figured mining on my pali so I'm more likely to see nodes as I run about with my team.

My shaman with engineering will probably also be a solo play character hence the engineer, seemed fun. I'm not sure what to pair that with though. I'm thinking alchemy??

My other shaman I was thinking BS but unsure of secondary.

As far as my understanding there really isn't any point in doubling up most of the professions, So I'm guess just filling things ups with alchemy, seems that was mostly what I've read about others doing. Though I'm not sure that is as useful with cataclysm.. Any point in doubling up JC?

Also pondering skinner as I hate to pass up pelts.

I'm trying to balance crafting what I need, with any additional slots for making coin. Curious what others have done.

I try to have one of each of these on each team:
- Enchanting, for instance DE's.
- Herbalism, gathering.
- Mining, gathering.
- Skinning, gather.

Not saying every team has that.
As all but three toons (75+) have Alchemy already.
And some toons are going Engineering for PvP.

I probably am giving this too much thought.

At one point I was pondering moving mining from my pali to another toon, partly I figured that I could smelt my mining up most of the way while make bars for leveling BS. Reason? silly really, It just seemed wrong to have a non plate wearer crafting all that plate hehe. I guess that would have made more sense back in the days of bind on pickup crafting items.

So I'll pick up mining and herbalism on the team, maybe throw in inscription and then add alchemists as I have room.

Started concentrating on the daily quests a bit ago, but won't have enough to get my epic/fast flying for the team by the expansion...

My Shaman (PvP) team all have Engineering, and 4 are alchemists and one an enchanter.

My priest/locks, which are just going to be profession and daily quest mules are all alchemists with a miner and an herber and those two toons will ride a two seater rocket for when I'm in the mood to farm ore/weed. This team has my one jewelcrafter.

My mages (PvP) are all engineers, with four alchemists and one tailor.

My new PvE team I'm leveling has a miner/skinner (tank), a blacksmith/enchanter (pally), a leatherworker/scribe (hunter), and I haven't decided on the other two yet (boomkin and mage). Probably both alchemists with nothing secondary.

Smelting dosn't really work for most of the BS upgrades. It works some but you still have to get out and mine a lot.

I suppose, while leveling it's nice to have Herbalism, Mining and Skinning.
When running instances (or for profit when leveling), Enchanting is nice.

Once you're at maximum level, if you have the gold to buy mats (and not waste time farming yourself)...
Then you probably don't care about gathering skills, and production skills or cooldowns are what counts.
Probably worth having enchanting somewhere on any team that will do instances, purely for the DE option.

I agree about enchanting, My priest is max enchant/tailor (was a solo played char before I started boxing)

Also I saw I typed in getting mining but mean skinning.

Regarding smelting. I was able to smelt all the way up to BC levels for mining. Could have sped things up with a few more smelting batches for BC mining but needed ore so and didn't want to buy it so mined BC and of course northrend.

Regarding cooldowns.

I know alchemy has one for True Gold, is that it for this expansion? Any point in a second JC?

Thanks!

Provided you get recipes the same way as you did in wotlk (through dailies), it means you can have double the cuts you'd normally have in the same timeframe = more $$$
