Hey all!

I am very new towards this, I have never boxed anything nor have I looked up to it (What a shame!)
But aside from that I find it very interesting how it all works and goes etc, so I bought myself a nice and shiny new account on WoW.

But my questions are if you are so kind to answer them.

1. What kind of programs do I need for boxing.
2. What are the things I really NEED to know about boxing.
3. How can I combine a tank with a caster, or a melee with a caster is that even doable?

Some things you maybe want to know that is I will start with a shaman and a shaman:)
I will first do dualbox and will eventually starting to pick up multiboxing(5 chars)
Reason why I start dual boxing first is that I want to know all the insides and outsides of dualbox/multiboxing before I start picking up the real work ( You will never get anywhere without any work before hand, do you?)

As you can see I am really into this, so I will look forward to your answers :)

Thank you in advance,
Martijn

Well at first if u want can do what i do and use HotKeyNet pretty simple and straight forward keymapping program...i just started getting into the whole dual-multiboxing aswell but will say that starting from the intro programs does help when u move up a step in programs

The software forum will get you a list of the various options.

Some are free, and others are either a one-time fee or a subscription model.

IMO, the best/strongest would be IS Boxer, which is a subscription option.
It has the key broadcasting, which is the basics.
But also automatic FTL (which is a strong assist method, which can be complicated to set up).
Very strong mouse broadcasting.
Send next click options, for ground target spells like Blizzard/Hurricane etc.
Keymaps are flexible, slave actions only, melee toons only, toggles etc.
Repeater Region healing, where you heal any toon (with your healer) from any toon.
You can do a 7 day trial of this.

A lot of us started with Keyclone, which is decent.
It has a $20 fee, for a license that is good for one PC for life.
It has most of the basic features, multi-PC support, round-robin etc.
But is lacking on the mouse broadcasting in particular.
There is a trial available.

HKN, as mentioned in the previous post to this..
It is a strong option, would be my #2 choice in terms of power and flexibility.
This is script based, there is a default script to run.
And a lot of information on tweaking it, on the HKN site.
And this is a free option.

(*Edited URL, thanks Fenril)

Game Commander Pro is another option.
Haven't seen a whole lot of this one, but the documentation is strong.
They posted a bit here, when the program first came out.
Looks like a different approach to boxing.
For example have a DPS group and a Healer group, and drag/drop toons from one to another.
Or so the example went.

Have not used Auto Hot Key, Octopus, PB, CloneKeys (Mac).
But they're options too.

And i will give a the truth ISBoxer is so worth it....Just ran 2 random dungeons with a lvl 18 pally/priest with ISBoxer/healer bot (addon) and we didnt die once, healing was a breeze, and if ur good well then you dont have to worry bout the 2 main parts of the group. Its def worth getting

Start slow.

Find a program of your choice and configure nothing but the key copy. Try not to get overwhelmed with the plethora of options just yet.
Look up some Multiboxing macros. The simplest 2 macros you will need are:
-follow macro-
/follow YOURMAINSNAME

-attack macro-
/assist YOURMAINSNAME
/cast SPELL

Later you can play with focus macros, and once you are comfortable with multiboxing, move to much more complex systems like FTL (Focus-less, target-less, leader-less)
