View Full Version : [WoW] Dual-Boxing Mac & Windows
Hi,
I am new here and the search wouldn't let me look for MAC or OSX so I apologise if this has already been answered.
I have 2 Systems, one MAC and one Windows (7) I want to use for Dual-Boxing. What is the best program to do that?
What I am looking for is something that has Keystroke Broadcast, mouse broadcast is not important.
Although I could run both on the one system, (I have done that previousely) I have found that the framerate suffers when you do it, so I want to run them on Different Systems.
Of course if it either is too hard, or costs too much then I wiull just go back to dual screening them on the one box.

Not really sure of a boxing software that runs on both PC and Mac.
Maybe someone else will have an idea.

I was toying about the idea of creating Multilaunchbox for pc too, so it could work with both. But with Bootcamp and ISBoxer, it just didn't seem that much of a need for it.
I don't know of any cross platform solutions either, at least for Key broadcasting. You could probably get Synergy+ (I think that was it). I believe it has key sending. I could never get it actually work right though.
I am trying Synergy out at the moment, and the biggest issue I have is that it keep crashing on me :(

Synergy with broadcast is the only cross-platform solution I know about. You can find the download link on the dual-boxing wiki pages here. If it is crashing you could try running the synergy server on the other computer.

I also would love a cross-platform program. I use HotKeyNet and use VNC to make windows to the Macs. I minimize them, so they don't slow down the Mac screen at all. I use RealVNC since it was free when I got it, is small/simple and it works well. I can't seem to get "ALT" to pass through since Macs swap "Windows" and "ALT" keys, but oh well. I just have HKN talk to the VNC window like it was a WOW running on my computer. It doesn't pass mouse clicks, or couldn't find an easy way, so I just don't do ground AOE stuff. So it has room for improvement, but it works for now.

You may be able to get the alt key passed if you change the modifier mappings in the keyboard system preference pane. I think you just need to swap the command and option(alt). This is what I did to get my g15 modifier buttons in the right place.
Sorry if I got the keys wrong, I am not on my regular computer right now.
