No confirmed cooldowns for alchemy whatsoever in cataclysm. The only thing that has a cooldown "1 second" is truegold. I assume that is a 1 day cooldown though and just a typo.
Rare quality gems confirmed to have no cooldown, so my jewelcrafters are worthless now.
God fucking damn it.

Multiple Jewelcrafter toons still get you an edge, in having more cuts initially over those with single Jewelcrafting toons.
Hopefully the lack of cooldowns is either an oversight or is just a feature of the beta, to facilitate testing.

Lack of cooldown for blue gems = theres a bluepost confirming it, not about truegold though

Well...
They recently changed a lot of the cooldowns, for late/current expansion to be every 24 hours, resetting at midnight server.
Or a very similar time.
If the plan was no cooldowns for transmutes in Cataclysm, I cannot see the cooldown changing but not being removed in the current stuff.
Cooldowns are frequently removed towards the end of an expansions life.
And they chose to keep the cooldowns in the game, but to change their durations from 20 hours to resetting at a fixed time.
The only reason I can see to change cooldowns from how they were to the new system, is if that is the system they intend to use in Cataclysm.
If there were to be no cooldowns on any transmutes in the expansion, then it makes sense for them to either leave the cooldowns as they were (at least for the remainder of WotLK) or to remove them entirely; they did neither of these.

Alchemy rare gems in cata have apparently never had a cooldown, and the way the skilling goes makes that apparent (needing them to get to 520 etc)
I just hope truesgold gets their fixed.

There has always been a cooldown on the harder to get stuff since vanilla (starting with arcanite bars I believe). I can only assume something of demand will have a cooldown, otherwise everybody will be rocking the best craftable epics in a few days. I don't think Blizzard wants that.

How much profit per gem did having each Jewelcrafter yield per day in Wrath? I found farming BGs for honor and buying gems to sell to be pretty profitable per time applied, curious what the difference was.

The whole idea behind cooldowns is to control the speed at which certain items enter the game. I'd be surprised if they did not have cooldowns at release for any crafting materials that are required for at least epic-quality items.

gems won't though, which i find intriguing, but i assume truegold will.

Are we saying that out of the gate, multiple alchemists are now worthless due to no cooldowns?

Time to change all those alchemists to miners!
i dont remember a cooldown on blue gems in wrath but im not positive about that. i coulda sworn it started with epics, but im wrong so often i probably should never speak.

I think once cata is released and there is no cooldowns, then we can bitch about it hehe
but until release most of this is speculation is what is on the beta at the moment, so things can change very quickly from now to cata release.
Even if there is no cooldowns and the market flooded with gems, expect to pay out the ass for them or rejoice and do a dance when you sell and check the mailbox for you're gold ;)

I am not saying that alchemists will be useless. truegold is an alchemist spell, miners have no daily cooldown. I am saying that gems have no daily cooldown to make. Thus making the profit margin of multiple jcs firey prism less than if you were to just use the same gems to make individual gems.
i got confirmation that truegold will have a 1 day cooldown in cata, so i'm fine with that, just pissed i invested so much time farming mats for JC and so much gold on mats i couldn't farm in order to get 32 jcs and now it's worthless since a single x-mute alchemist can make more from gems than the daily cooldown of the jcs.
i just dont understand... will there not be cooldowns on epic gems when we get them. thats the way it usually seems to work, and it seems that would be where the money is at anyways. i guess the alchemists will not be as profitable at first but when we get the epics it seems they will be back in business.

ehm ... there never was a cd on "epic gems" ... there was a "cd" on dragoneyes ... it was a daily quest .
if i remember right they sold for 1k+ per piece for the first 2-3 weeks @ our server (destromath/eu).
i couldn't find any information where the new "dragoneyes" will be aviable from sadly till now (sitting on 9 alchimists and 6 jc'S (3x max lvl 3x 300 atm)).
someone checked how the highlvl jc recipies are learned this time? ... if it is like wotlk multiple jc's will be very usefull cuz you can learn them faster .

There's still the daily quest for JC's.
I'm assuming there will be something similar to Dragon's Eyes.

For what? posting my plan to try and help the community? That makes a lot of sense.
There's still the daily quest for JC's.
I'm assuming there will be something similar to Dragon's Eyes.
Assuming that the chimera's eye is worth 100g per, it comes out to a value of approximately 100k per month.
Alchemy will pull in over a mill a month though, so it's not killer.
I came back to wow this week... already up quite a bit and hopefully will be up much more before cata. So i'm on the way to getting tailoring up instead. Though tailoring's cooldowns are BOP and none are trainable. I just hope that the seller isn't phased.
edit: twilight highlands is phased to start with no npcs in towns or w/e, so you def have to be level 84ish to do this and get to phasing.... so looks like tailoring is a no go.

Is there any specific goal you are after in regards to gold? Blizzard has been working pretty hard to make gold easy to get and difficult to spend. I scrapped my plans to level teams of "profession-bots" because I have what I need to keep my characters geared, enchanted, gemmed, and fed. There do not seem to be many goldsinks in Cata. Even dual spec (1000g --> 100g) and cold-weather flying (1000g --> 500g) have been cut pretty drastically. I've stopped worrying about accumulating gold and started worrying if I'll be able to spend it.

theres always gold sinks, thats just how the game works otherwise the economy would be in shambles.
ex: sands of time or w/e costs 24,000 gold.
I'm pleased I stuck with my original plan - lots of tailors & alchemists, only one JC. They laughed at me, the fools, but I showed them! (insert insane, evil laugh)

kate, unless you plan on getting every character to 84, the tailors are also WORTHLESS, sorry to tell ya.

On my server, there are a lot of GDKP's.
Typically five a day, for both 10 and 25's of whatever the highest content is.
Similarly, there are very geared/skilled toons who sell a rating in 2's.
Pay them so much, group up and play until you get to whatever.
Blizzard has so many gold sinks in the game.
But there isn't really a shortage of places to spend gold.
Especially with seven teams of toons, in my case (others have more or less).
There's no way I'll gear some of the alt teams, but could take them on GDKP's if I were so inclined.

Same on my server. In fact I'd be uber rich if I didn't have this compulsion to gear out every one of my chars in GDKP =)

They'll all be capped. I don't make alts just to have them master professions.

Isn't this all just speculation.
I haven't created a single profession on any of my chars yet. I will wait until Cataclysm, but there could easily be a CD introduced. Right?

When something is labeled [Release] the chances are slim that something new will be introduced. Not impossible but slim.

Even still, they will go ahead with things which they're not 100% sure of.
If they work as they like, they remain the same.
If something is very wrong with a mechanic, it will get changed.
A lack of cooldown, results in gearing a lot quicker.
Is that better or worse for the game?
Depends on how you look at crafted items and how that fits in with raid drops or rated/arena items.
