My new team, post-4.0.1

So going into Cataclysm, I have officially dumped the Prot Pally, 4x Elemental Shaman as my main PvE team. After experimenting with a few different combos, I've settled on the following mixed team:

Blood Death Knight
Holy Paladin
Arcane Mage
2x Elemental Shaman

Ever since the patch, I absolutely LOVE Blood DKs! Cant say enough good stuff about them! And I grew to dislike Prot Pallies just as much. However my Paladin had a pretty good Holy gear set already, so I worked him in as the healer, and its been a great team.

Assuming we will be taking alot of constant, AoE damage in Cataclysm, the Paladin will be able to heal the tank, himself (Protector of the Innocent talent), and the Mage (Beacon of light) in a single cast! The shamen will chain heal each other (though I'm considering either ditching chain heal and just doing a Healing Surge with them, or put some of their talent points into Restoration).

For buffs, you really get almost everything! All the best totems between the two shamen. Paladin's aura and Kings. Mage's INT, Crit buffs.

In WotLK Heroics, all 3 DPSs are averaging 5K DPS, compared to 3-4K each when I'd run 4x Elemental, and my Mage isnt even that well geared yet.

So is anyone else running this combo? I notice that not many boxers seem to roll Holy Pallies. And if you dont, or never considered it, I would strongly recommend it. And again, DK tanks are the sheot!

The only problem i can see is that with you beaconing the mage, you lose your main holy power gaining resource for WoG etc.

I am enjoying the Blood tank for my melee team, and I'm considering running him with my 4 Ele shaman on Cata since I have no tank for him. Unfortunately my DK is on the same account as one of my Shaman, so I need to swap him with one of the melee toons :(

Unfortunately a Warlock is one of the only classes I DONT have at 80. My highest is 53. And I have never been able to master the Boomkin, even before 4.0.1.

It hasnt been an issue YET, but we'll see how it goes in Cataclysm. I may have to adjust later.

I love to see a new mixed team. Diversity is fun =P I am going with (at least for today, i keep changing my mind) Prot pally / frost dk / feral druid / elly shaman / disc priest. I was running a beartank pre-4.0 but just dont really like how they feel right now so im runnnig him as cat.

Definitely a lot of fun having different classes to play with and cant wait to see them at 85.

I love my prot pally. The glyph that lets your HW stun elementals and dragonkin will come in handy for sure! I have two teams on Zuljin now.. my prot+4 shams and a mixed team of bear tank, priest healer, hunter, lock and mage. I do have an 80 DK on Galakrond.. if it becomes necessary to have one be my tank, ill transfer him over.

I notice alot of people seem to feel the need to 'grow out of' the Prot Pally / Elemental Shaman combo.

I love my Prot Pally but then its my main. It took me a good long while to adapt to the changes though - the change to Divine Plea giving you 3 HP coming in 4.0.3a is really going to be great because the main thing I struggle with is the initial burst threat.

I like that Shamans have hex AND bind elemental. I love that my Pally can stun Dragonkin/Elementals and Undead/Demons.

I've always really loved Resto Shaman healing and I feel its only gotten alot better.

I think I will level a new mixed team from scratch though to experience the 1-60 content but I wont be in any rush. I swap my druid in for my pally every now and then and I really love the druid tanking in 4.0.1 but it seems its taken a huge nerf so I dont know if I'll enjoy it as much now in 4.0.3a.

I also love doing Wintergrasp and hoping I will like Tol Barad so thats another reason I want to stick with the shaman. Synchronized chain lightning and lvb looks great. :D

Weird, I'm thinking of the opposite. My 80 prot pally has definitely grown on me since 401 and I actually like it again. I'm thinking of using my 72 pally and 4 shamans to make a team. That is, once I finish leveling my melee team to 80.

I was doing some testing on my 69 ele shaman and she was doing 1300dps by herself.

How do you find healing with a holy pally. I've only just started and I'm having some trouble. How do you have it set up?

seems to me that Boomkins are much easier to manage *since* 4.0.1.

Boomkin has gone from a random proc, which makes the other spell (Wrath vs Starfire) into the optimal choice.... to wanting to cast several arcane or nature spells in a row and then switching to the other.

It seems easier to manage, cast a lot of spells of this type and then a lot of the other type in cycles, than to have to switch randomly from one to the other. Especially easier to manage multiple boomkin at once.
