characters in the jamba team list which are not online constantly spam my chat screen after a few minutes of play.. on ALL my toons not just the master.

Go to Advanced -> Core: Communications. Uncheck the box that reads something like: "Assume team always online". Then "Push Settings". Then /reload on all your toons.
