Just a friendly tip to abuse alchemy cooldowns. From what i know truegold will have a daily cooldown like gems. This is the main ingredient used in the epic crafted items. At the beginning of WOTLK epic weapons were selling for upwards to 5k and within the first two months plateaued out at around 2.5k for a while. This being said the material cost is very similar and i assume the gold with be proportional for this next expansion.
Most items require six of these. One to three chaos orbs and hardened elementium. elementium bars are used to creat the pyrium for truegold which is equal to titansteel.
This being said... the way to make the highest profit it seems would be to buy a bunch of elementium ore, create pyrium bars with an x-mute alchemist alt. Then use your daily cooldown for truegold and create the epics or blue weapons for usage.
For someone like myself who have 30+ toons (34 to be exact for me), this will ultimately yield around 37 truegold per day. Which in turn can be used to make approximately 6 epic items (chests) or 10 belts/shields etc etc. These items being worth who knows what (going off of wotlk type prices for 5k for first 2 months and 2.5k ish after that for a while) would mean that you could end up with upwards to 900,000 gold with as many alchemists as I have, you can assume 100k per month of costs or so which would be about 800k profit (at 5k), about 500k profit otherwise (have to take mat prices going down at the same time into account)
Just a little common sense tip. Hope it helped.

According to Wowhead.
1x Truegold =
- 3x Pyrium Bar
- 10x Volatile Fire
- 10x Volatile Water
- 10x Volatile Air
1x Pyrium Bar (3x) =
- 4x (12x) Elementium Bar
- 4x (12x) Volatile Earth
Both Pyrium Bars and Truegold are alchemy transmutes (they both require a Philosopher's Stone).
So three alchemists per Pyrium Bar.
And a fourth to make a Truegold.
Mats required:
- 12x Elementium Bar (24 Elementium Ore)
- 12x Volatile Earth
- 10x Volatile Fire
- 10x Volatile Water
- 10x Volatile Air
So the Blacksmith is for the crafting, after you've done the transmutes?
Four alchemists per Truegold... if a recipe needs 6x Truegold, then 24 alchemists per piece crafted?
Are any of the recipies faction rep? That seems to be the thing on the beta - you have to have dungeon rep with certain factions to purchase the recipies, meaning, you have to at least have your alts ready to run level 80 or greater dungeons while you wear the associated faction tabard.

I totally didn't think of that, yeah, so i guess one of your mains will have to be BS, but for the gold... its not a bad investment.
Ualaa, pyrium bars are not a daily cooldown though from what i'm aware of, same as titanium bars at the moment.

Cool.
Then the mats remain the same.
Depending on whether you farm them or purchase them.
But the finished product is... up to 1 per alchemist per day.
And presumably will go for enough to be profitable for the forseeable future.

Exactly... but for people like you and me we can produce over 30 per day... which at 3 fer epics of 6fer blues/epics theres quite a bit of profit to be made.

How long do you assume it's going to take to level up your army of alchemists to be able to do the transmutes btw? And how many gold per toon do you think it's going to cost you?

I've got 29 alchemists to level.
And have a little over 300k.
Plus about 100k in speculation mats, which I hope will sell well.
250g x 5 toons per team = 1,250g
Running 7 teams, so 8,750g to upgrade my flying for the old world.
Going to give my roommate 25k for 310% flying, on his main team.
Herb availability will be the largest factor for me.
Hopefully, not too much of a cost.
But will probably cost a fair bit, especially trying to buy that much and so close to release.

i m curious to see what happens with mining. all high level smelting activities are cooldown-free in cata?

It is mostly herbs for alchemy and all ore for jewelcrafting basically... so we are all leveling to 85 (5 of us) off of gathering, or until all toons are ready for action... maybe 2 weeks max without buying a single thing, might spend like 50-100k to make it easier on us.

pyrium is as high as it goes iirc.
