Hey all.

Total RAF/Boosting noob here. I have read several forum posts that say daisy chaining several accounts together works for all the boosted toons to receive the RAF XP bonus.

For instance, I have:

A > B > C, with account A having my level 80 Pally that I want to boost with. B and C have level 1 toons grouped with A in the starting area.

When B and C are grouped together, they get the RAF XP bonus. When I add in my level 80 from account A the bonus seems gone as he rips through the mobs. The level 1s get almost no xp at all when the 80 is in the group and does the killing.

Am I doing something wrong? Is it that I just signed up for all of this tonight and it takes time, or does daisy chaining not work anymore? Thanks for your input!

As far as I am aware, your "setup" should work just fine. However, a level 80 killing level 1 mobs is what is giving you crap experience. When you increase crap experience by 300% it is still crap experience. People boost with high level characters in instances and usually leave them out of the questing portion of it.

People hit a level 15 or 20 instance at 10 and boost there. The high level elites are what gives good experience, not Kobolds or Murlocs in the outside world. Currently [I say currently because it changes in a few weeks], you can jump into Scholomance at level 45, but good luck being able to clear Scholomance with a full party of level 45 characters. That's why people jump around instances to boost, you want to fight enemies that are elites and are levels higher than your guys.

If B and C are linked (the link from A does not matter), they'll receive the bonus experience if:
- i) They are grouped and close to each other;
- ii) They're within +/- 4 levels of each other;
- iii) They're both level 59 or lower.
- iv) The mobs or quest is not gray to either of them.

If it is just the two of them, you might receive 300 experience per kill (divided two ways, for two in the party), or slightly more then 150 each (party bonus adds a minute amount)... say 152 exp each.

Without RAF, they'd be getting 100 experience per kill, or slightly over 50 each.

With a level 80 in the party, and no RAF, they might get 5 experience per kill.
With a level 80 in the party, and RAF bonus, they might get 15 experience per kill.

But the 80 is worthwhile, as they can gather a hundred mobs.
And kill them in less time, then a lowbie could.

For levels 1-10, kills are basically worthless, and its just that you do quests incredibly quickly and easily.
Once your toons are high enough level to be boosted, the 80 really speeds your progress up.

A level 14 elite, in an instance might take your two toons 45 seconds to kill, at level 12.
And then your mana is almost gone, you need to heal, etc.
And you might make 500 exp each on the one kill.

Conversely, with the 80th in the party...
You have half of the instance pulled in one go.
Which takes 3 minutes to do.
And you get 50 exp per kill, but drop 80 mobs at once.
Another 3 minutes later, the other 80 drop.
And you've made 8,000 exp each... in the time you'd be lucky to have made more then 2,000 each.
Plus there is no chance of dying on the lowbies, with the 80 killing level 14 elites.

You can boost safely and easily to 60th, like this.

You can set your chat that it displays XP gains. That way you can see if the recruit a friend bonus works or not.
Right click on your main chat window, go settings, other, and tick experience. If RAF works you should get a message like 20 xp (4 group bonus + 10 Recruit a friend).

To boost exp effectively with the 80 you need to kill mobs that are not grey to the level 80, and that will give yur lowbies max exp they can get per kill (I think).

Of course you could probably kill more lower level mobs faster for exp but you can kill lots of level 72 or whatever the first green level is with a level 80 also.

If your pair of lowbies, can kill a same level elite mob in 30 seconds.
And they use a third of their mana/health in the process.

Two such elites might be doable.
But three will very likely kill your team.

With an 80 in the party, you effectively get 10% of the experience.
But the 80 can kill 25 mobs at once, in less time then the pair of toons kills a single elite.
That's why boosting is strong.

Non-elites is the same deal, except they're less per kill or set of kills.
So not that useful for boosting, unless its boosting via very quick quests.
