I recently reactivated my wow accounts and thought I would give boxing a try. I was in the process of reading up on it over a year ago when I last played wow. I am about 50/50 on what I intend to do with regards to pve vs pvp.

I normally play a mage. I decided I would try to level several 5 man teams up to 60 during my RAF triple xp and before Cata comes out. So far I have pallies and locks done. Most likely I will be starting shamans and druids next. Normally I have been boosting a team of 4 up to 60, then leveling the 5th char to 30 and gifting him the rest of the way to 60.

I am currently using isboxer and jamba. I actually havent done as much boxing with my first teams as I have done boosting. I am still debating on whether I should continue to just boost as fast as possible for as long as I can with 4 + my booster or get a full 5 l together and start trying to run more some outland instances to help me learn how to box properly. Im leaning towards continuing to boost till wrath and then to start instances and questing.

With regards to the thread about cata mats speculation, I didnt see any mention of stone. Do you guys feel that stone will be worth snatching up now?

Welcome to dual-boxing!

I would probably concentrate on getting a lot of options (teams to 60th) during the RAF.
Worst case scenario, they are toons that aren't used much, but you never know what you might want down the road.
Plus you can use them for tradeskills, even if that's all you get out of them.

If you want a PvE option, I'd include a tanking toon for sure.
And in addition to that, either 3+ DPS who can heal in their DPS form/spec (Elemental Shaman, for example), or a dedicated healer; either works great.
The 5th slot can be anything.

You could run a team for PvE and another for PvP, and take optimal choices for each.

Of if you want one team that can run both, consider a Druid as your tank.
Because they can also be Balance (caster PvE team) or Feral (melee PvE team).
A Paladin is probably the top choice as a boxed tank, and you can lead as Prot or go off-spec Holy, if you like.
A DK/Warrior, either one, is a strong tank but much less useful for a ranged PvP team, although they work great as parts of a melee team.

For mats, pretty much anything that isn't farmed in large quantities, at the point where leveling players will need a lot of it, will be a decent option to go with.

Hybrid classes are win.

It's convenient to have 1 account with tanks, 1 with healers.

Just think about it like this: if you use 1 out of the 3 chars you boosted, you have not wasted time. Personally i only leveled my shaman to 60 in my RAF and i regret it. a lot.

With shamans/paladins/druid/lock(+priest) you got a lot of possible combo's.
For pve my current team is protadin, disc priest, ele sham, fire mage and destro lock and loving that. Multiple toons is definitely a lot of fun to play for pve. So that's a personal thing to think about.

I started with two accounts, each half full of 70's mid way through Burning Crusade.
Added three accounts.
B > C
A > D > E
Boosted B/C and D/E, with A.
I did... Druids, Hunters, Priests and Shammies, during my RAF.

I have since started Warlocks.
And am thinking of Pallies, Mages or Rogues.

Wish I had, done some of those four with the RAF.
I had more then a month of RAF remaining, when I quit leveling new teams and started on the Shammies.

The un-used toons aren't a waste.
I've got 29 alchemy transmutes a day, which has translated into just over 500k in almost half a year of transmuting (more then half a year, but did almost nothing over the summer).
The Priests are fun, and tempting to take beyond 75th (minimum level, for a 525 Cataclysm tradeskill cap); the Hunters (and DK's and Mixed Team) won't likely be played a whole lot in Cataclysm, but that is still 15 extra transmutes a day.
