From MMOChampion (http://www.mmo-champion.com/content/). Should make our lives all that much easier with less to keep track of and being able to transmute uncommon gems.

Transmutations
A few interesting changes were made to Transmutations in Cataclysm.

There's only one type of Meta Gem now, and it's now created with Uncommon quality gems.
You can create Rare gems by crafting herbs + Uncommon gems.
Volatile Life can be randomly transmuted into any other kind of Volatile element.

And of course, we want the Vial of the Sands (http://www.wowhead.com/item=65891)!

are there cooldowns on transmutes? I was under the impression that most of the value for boxers from alchemy comes in the ability to do many transmutes without much work. If that advantage has been removed, then is alchemy still a good gold-making tradeskill for us?

From what I hear, herb nodes are EVERYWHERE in Cata, and some recipes will give multiple skill points when you make them - I'm definitely going to get my Shamans skilled in Alchemy, but I'm waiting until it launches.

SO EXCITED FOR THIS EXPANSION! It's crazy.

It's kind of hard to get too excited for alchemy atm, three weeks and I still can't train epic transmutes on my four newest alchemists....and they're only doing rolling restarts today :(

Most of the stuff looks good.. I am not a big fan of the Volatile Life Transmute being random. You may get a bunch of volatile elements that you cannot use or that won't sell (probably won't happen near the launch but I am thinking more in the longer term here). It may not be a big deal if the transmutes are no longer on a cooldown but would suck if you are trying to make a specific kind and keep getting others when you do your transmute each day.

Can't wait to be a dragon though :)

Haven't read nearly enough, to know what is what.
I do remember reading, alchemy will have a transmute, which will be an ingredient in virtually every high end recipe for the other production skills.

I'd guess long-term, either that or gems + a jewelcrafter to cut the gem, will be our daily transmute cash cow.

JC + alchemist on 30+ toons = over 1 million gold per month

Well.. 29 alchemists and a jewelcrafter.. so close.

Sitting on 300k, and currently making 2.0-2.5k a day from transmutes/cuts.
Have spent half of the 100k I wanted to invest in tradeskill stuff for Cataclysm prospecting; unfortunately the 21 guild bank tabs are full already.

But planning on giving my roommate 20k or so, for 310% flying on his team.
And do the same, for the mains for a couple of friends.

Got the DK's to 73rd, Priests to 72nd, but Hunters are sitting at 68th.
Slowly getting them to 75th.
