Professions. There has not been an update in the CS forum or the Bug Report forum, wondering if anyone has figured this out.

My 4th team, the mages, all learned alchemy. I skilled them all up to about 98 before I ran out of low level mats, so I got on another team to do dailies or something. Log back on to mages later, the professions window is there and says my skill is 98, but the alchemy button is not there and '/cast alchemy' doesn't work. Apparently this is a pretty known issue with anyone not maxxed out in a profession. Has anyone found a work around to get your profession window to show?

would this macro do anyting? it sounds like the 'old' profession skill could be still open, but hidden

/run CloseTradeSkill()
/cast Alchemy

If you log out or switch zones when it's in this state then you lose your recipes and skill (not the actual skill points but the one that's like "Journeyman Alchemy". You have to buy it back again and whatever recipes were lost. I have yet to find a GM that can fix this. I've had this bug show up with Tailoring, Enchantment, Engineering, several times.

The latest one was Engineering going bye-bye after I had done the quest for Goblin Engineering.

It's really concerning to me. They don't even seem to know what's going on or acknowledge that there's a bug (except sometimes from the GM I will get a "this is a known issue, we're working on it"). Yeah you work on it while I spend another 550g to buy my recipes back. One thing I've noticed to try and keep this bug at bay is to make sure you craft something that you gain a point from before changing zones or logging off if you recently bought a new skill like "Journeyman Tailoring" or the like.

This better be fixed before Cat or ppl are going to lose some seriously hard or impossible to replace recipies that can't be bought back from the trainer.

Nope when this happens your skill shows up in the profession tab, with the proper amount of skillpoints, but the profession button is gone (along with any secondary one like goblin engineering or build campfire). Also if you had put the profession button on your action bar that will be gone. (If it's only greyed out then you haven't changed zones or logged out and can recover by the usual /cast Alchemy)

I haven't seen this problem show up with professions that were maxxed out. But for all my chars I was trying to get professions leveled up in time for the expansion I've run into this nasty, nasty bug too many times.

Yea, max profs don't have this bug. It's just very frustrating to have a gbank overflowing with weeds and I can't level on my mage team. Two weeks now, and no update. I've always kind of been a "fanboi" about Blizz's games, but 2 weeks?

5 years have passed and alliance still jump over the fence in AB before the game starts. Just an example :D

Refers to: Soon™ and "working as intended."

Would be nice if it got fixed though, was also thinking about leveling alchemy.

It took the Everquest team a little over 10 years, to fix the animation on the bard playing drums.

Hmm, for kicks (and since my bank is REALLY full of herbs) I retrained journeyman's alchemy, trained all the recipes, and got a few skill ups. Logged off, logged back on, and I kept the skill, so maybe it's fixed.
