Alright, after a bit of playing around, I determined what all of the legal keystrokes in WoW are. The only exception is with the Fkeys and Alt (since Alt-F4 is such a bad combo, I said all are invalid).

I have added the file in both Text and XLS format.

These gives a total of around 616 possible key combinations.

Thank you! This was exactly what I was going to sit down this weekend to figure out. Now I can spend more time actually playing the game.

This is a list of all keys that are "legal" for binding in WoW. So, if you look at the left side, you see "a" - that means it is legal for binding. Then under Shift you see a 1 ... that means "Shift-a" is also legal, in addition to "Ctrl-a","Shift-Ctrl-a" ... etc across the page. If you look at the "Delete" key, you will see it allows everything that "a" does ... with the exception of "Ctrl-Alt-Delete" - you can guess what happens when you hit that combo :). For other keys, like Esc - you have only the key itself, plus shift... and so on. If you see a 0 it isn't possible, if you see a 1... it is.

The purpose of this is for people with something like an Xkeys/Fang/Nostromo ... you can determine odd key combinations that are possible ... but that don't interfere with your normal play.

Good luck :)

Hmm, maybe I put this in the wrong forum. Anyone agree?

Not all of the key combinations may be available depending on your specific keyboard though, due to key blocking.

Also if you need more hotkeys I recommend the space-cadet keyboard. :)

Thank you for this. Really cool.

I think there may be some confusion because some of the tabs collapsed so the 1's and 0's dont' line up under the right column. When I opened it, it looked like this:

Base Key Shift Ctrl Alt Shift-Ctrl Shift-Alt Shift-Ctl-Alt Ctrl-Alt Total Modes
a 1 1 1 1 1 1 1 8

Edit: just noticed the XLS format; which is better formated. sweet.

anybody has experience with bindings using UTF-8 codes?

something like this:
SetBinding("ALT-\195\159","MOVEFORWARD")

i want to use exotic codes like \198\128 to \198\255

Worth mentioning...
you definitely can bind things ALT-CTRL-F1 through ALT-CTRL-F12 with no ill effects, including ALT-CTRL-F4, do there's another 12 bindable keys.
