I am used to played 1 holy priest, 3 ret pallys, and 1 prot paladin. I am wanting to try to a mixed class like for example:

Prot Pally
Holy Priest
1 or 2 Mage
1 or 2 Warlock

I was wondering if anyone had experience in mixed classes, if this combo would work? Also if it doesn't any recommendations on what classes? Lastly how hard of a transition do you think it will be from my current group into a mixed class as shown. I mostly just do pve, no pvp if that helps.

One of my teams (my first 5box team even!) is:
prot pally
holy priest
mm hunter
arcane mage
destro lock (was another arcane mage first)
Just get your macro's working correctly, and you can't go wrong imho.
Haven't played them after 4.01 though, so got no real idea how they would act now.
Don;t think it differs much from before.

How did you like boxing the warlock, and mage in one group? was it good dps?

DPS was on the mage and lock was great!
mage and warlock were battling eachother on the dps charts, hunter was a tad lower.

I just re did my mixed team last night after the patch changes and although there still low lvl I'm really looking forward to top end content as there a blast!
Prot Warrior
Holy Priest
Arcane Mage
Ele shaman
Balance Druid

Even with blizz pissing about with buffs and /click not possible this team rocks with the /castsequence I wrote for each toon.
I think you'll find it easy to change to a new multi team and a he'll of a lot of fun aswell :)

Even with the removal of multiple castsequences called by click...
Even if the current castsequence + fall-through/proc is also removed...

We can go with matching cast time, on similar hotkeys.
And spam 1-4 keys for DPS, instead of 1 key.

Or we can go with straight castsequences.
And either have procs on another key, which we press every 5 or 10 seconds.
Or approximate the procs and include them in the castsequences.

DPS will work for mixed teams, however Blizzard leaves the macro system.
Mixed teams bring additional special moves to manage/hotkey.
Which can be more of a challenge in remembering which key to use when.
But is also more tools brought to bear on a given situation.

I had the follwoing teams:
1) 4 DKs + 1 priest
2) 1 pala + 4 shamy
3) 1 pala + 1 mage + 1 lock + 1 shamy + 1 priest

The DKs/priest were annoying (watching one toon walking through the hall after pressing interact with target...), pala/shamy felt like a relieve compared to that, ranged dps is a lot easier than melee dps.

But I have to say - the mixed team is a lot more powerful than the pala/shamy combo.

I use simple castsequence, just one-button, nothing fancy, no special abilities and I cut through inis that would have been a challenge for my pala/shamy team at that level.

Maybe its cata, maybe its just that I have now the ini experience - but I really enjoy the mixed team.

From what I see now, its tank (pala) +heal (priest), then getting the main raid buffs with hybrid dps (shamy, lock) and then add pure dps (aka mage).

Can't wait to get the 10box complete...

Yep, mixed class groups (or raids) are very viable and imho more efficient (buffs, variety of abilities, mixed loot needs like what Blizzard designed the game for) and more fun to play.

Just levelled my mixed team to 60:

1 x Protection Warrior
1 x Elemental Shamen
1 x Arcane Mage
1 x Holy Priest

All from patch 4.0.1. Been an incredible learning experience and great fun, gradually I have incorporated ISBoxer clickbars for each class so they can execute their 'specials' as well as fairly complex macros. Levelling I sometimes used dungeon finder and therefore got an 'outsider' into my team, it has been really satisfying to know I am tanking, healing and beating the extra player on the DPS table! This is not because I am in anyway uber, it's all down to the power of ISBoxer.

Dungeon's are ideal for mixed teams, in fact I have found it easier than tanking in a normal group.. because at least the DPS is all on the right target all the time.

I love my Prot. Pally, Holy Priest, and trio of Destro Locks. I hit pretty hard. Easy button management imo too.
