Huge Gear Upgrade

I just realized that most arena items no longer require arena rating to obtain (only shoulders + T2 weapon still does).

For a few seconds I lied still and contemplated this before I charged to the arena vendor, nearly slipping on my own drool on the way, and bought gears.

My teams consists of a disc priest and four arcane (after 4.0 lolol) mages.

I bought 4/5 pieces of wrathful gladiator armor, wrathful weapon (staff and wand). The staff replaced ilvl 232 Seethe and ilvl 200 Violet Citadel offhand. The staff was the biggest upgrade.

Alternatively I could have spent my 60,000k honor (12,000 on each char) on 363 epic gems and sold them for 100-200g resulting in a profit of around 34k-64,000 gold.

I went for the arena gear because I was curious to try the feel of playing with well geared characters for a change, and Im glad I did. The gear made a HUGE difference, the upgrade is the biggest Ive had yet - even larger than the lvl 70 UD invasion with all its free epics. Playing battlegrounds and world pvp is more fun then ever, I plow through enemies like knife through butter. If the arcane barrage doesnt kill someone the x5 pyro rockets will.
My main priest having 40,005 HP and around 1600 resilience self-buffed is not easy to kill either.
Actually Im gonna try and solo bjarngrim in HoL normal, a boss I couldnt kill before but with all these upgrades I think it will be piece of cake :D


The gear will get outdated in 6 weeks but these 6 weeks of awesomeness is totally worth it, if you have honor laying around I wouldnt wait a second before I ran and got some of the best items available :)

BTW: I noticed I could attach enchant AND engineering-enchant to my cloak, as well as pyro-rocket+armor webbing on gloves. Before the patch adding one would replace the other but now you can have both at the same time apparently - could be a reforging bug? Im gonna try and get a spellpower enchant on the gloves as well.

What would you have spent 60k honor on, gems or gear?

wait, does 60k honor buy you a full set of gear? My subs aren't active because I don't want to get rolled in PvP because of lack of gear, but I'd be willing to grind out 60k for a few weeks of fun before expansion.

These are just approximates Weapons 2200, chest/legs/head 2000, rest 1600. You can't have 60K honor unless you had 2700 WG marks and 7000 arena points and 75K honor. It got converted to 4K max.

A full set will cost around 10k honor with weapon I think, the new honor cap is 4k honor (which can be surpassed by the currency converter). I had a lot of venture & co badges from doing grizzly hills pvp dailies and thats why I got my excessive amount of honor :)

Edit: I had 12k honor on each char totalling 60k across all 5, I got most of the honor from my 2200 venture & co badges on each char.

I already had the gear XD, so I bought 112 gems with the honor, selling at 100g each.

Armory shows the engineering buffs gone, can you confirm that it overwrote them?

I didnt put the engineering buffs on all my chars and only stacked it on one, I will experiment with it later and check. There was no dialogue popup asking me to overwrite and the gloves did show +240 armor as well as the pyro rocket, it could be an UI bug but Ill have to verify it later.

If you wanna try it for yourself you can enchant your cloak, reforge it and then apply an engineering buff :)

If I can do enchants + parachute, I'm prob gonna get tailor on 3 of them to get lightweave!

My 2 locks have been in the BOA gear since I got them to 80 months ago, last night I couldn't resist grabbing the off-hand, wand and shoulders from the arena vendor and can now queue for heroic dungeons! (noth that I want to run a WOTLK heroics ever, ever again.) Thanks Blizz!

4k max? Most of my toons started with 12-16k honor when the patch hit. That was with 50-75k honor, 2000 honor points, 100-200 stone keeper shards. I had some wrathful already (weapons, shield, chest) but finished up the set and had plenty left at the end. I didn't know you could buy epic gems still but I may try that.. I have a ton left, as well as my pally team which I don't plan on spending, and I'm totally broke. can't even gem or reforge the new gear

I Used the honor to upgrade my lower level items, and picked up weapon, off hand and wand on each of my characters.
had to spend the day running AV to pickup the honor required to get the weapon on my mage - quite weird running Av solo after spending years multiboxing it.
now each character is running mid 5k GS - still have to look into picking the right glyphs and sorting out the new cast sequences though :(

4k is the cap... they only let you go over it with the initial conversion. If you don't spend them any points over 4k will be converted to gold when cata hits.

TLDR patch notes are hard.
