View Full Version : Post 4.0 WoW crashing

On average after 4.0, every third BG I do at least one of my clients crashes zoning in. It just sits there and gives the "Not responding" line. Of course, closing it and opening a new one boots my guy... Which means every 2-3 BG's I have to take a 15 minute break for the stupid deserter debuff.

All I'm running is 5 WoW's with ISBoxer. Is anyone else having zoning problems post 4.0?

Haven't had an issue zoning.

But did have four of the five disconnect, when I was bouncing between the addon screen (character select) and into the game. I clicked enter world, and four disconnected while the fifth (active character) entered. One time so far, so not sure it is an error or a random thing.

I just skimmed the support forums and found nothing about this at all. I guess I could make a post--It seems pretty heavily trafficked by blues.

I was just hoping someone here would've had the same issue and found a fix.

In any case, I just turned off every non-essential addon that I use. Let's see if this works.

Still having client crash issues. This is my not-happy face.

I turned off all addons and it still happens. Hmmm. ISBoxer is setup so that it waits 5 seconds before it loads the next window.

Same here, happens to random toons while zoning in to whatever zone (bg/portals/dungeons)
3 toons are on the same pc, other 2 are on another, and it happens randomly on one of them.
Haven't found a solution except killing the process and relogging.

Yeah, that destroys your honor per hour though sigh.

I have had a crash on 1 of 5 clients when changing video settings. I have had several sets of disconnects that I never used to get before the patch. Other than that, 5 boxing with ISBoxer going ok.

If you use DBM then try to turn that addon off.

If some of you have been having issues with getting your character freezing on loading screen and issues with the cog wheel in the Headless Horseman instance. Well I managed to talk to a GM about it and they had this to say.

Those Scripts (so you can all copy and paste) are:

/script GameTooltip.Temphide = function() GameTooltip:Hide() end; GameTooltip:SetScript("OnShow", GameTooltip.Temphide);

and

/script GameTooltip:SetScript("OnShow", GameTooltip.Show);

That script is great... for the cog-wheel problem. It hasn't done anything for my random crashing problem. Sigh.

Wipe your cache folder and let it rebuild itself. Many times the data will get corrupted and cause repeated crashes at one particular area over and over and over.

Thanks Moosejaw! I cleared my cache and I've done 5-6 BG's with no crashing.

Hey Mosq2,

My guildie last night his comp crashed over and over. He is on a mac, solo playing, with enough hardware power to run the game. So we spend about 2 hours of testing. The issue was only happening in northrend, not in outland or kalimdor. In ToC after some time in the instance, and sometimes in a BG.

So we ran trough all his settings. We narrowed it down to flying in northrend and particulary mounting up in dalaran. Everytime he dc'd. Disabled his 3 addons, to no avail. Cleared his wtf folder, to no avail.

What did the trick though was zooming his camera in and reduce the setting how far you can see in the distance to the 2 lowest settings. Anything beyond that crashed his game immediately. With the 2 lowest settings he hadn't a single crash. Obviously not very playable, but at least we know now what crashes his comp.

Not sure the addon name, but there was one which adjusted video settings on the fly.
So your slaves would always have the lowest possible.
But the current active toon would have the higher options you had set.
