Hola,

After being away from the scene for a good year or more i decided to take advantage of 7 days free play on my accounts to try out wow before the expansion hits, get welfare epics on them and also give ISBoxer a crack.

So far, i've been really impressed with ISBoxer and with its instant character swapping, its quite amazing.

I used to use keyclone with a FTL setup and an addon called keepfollowing which can still be found at Curse.

Keep following provided a 'sticky' follow to my characters and really is something i cant play without.

So, this time around i've gone with IS as mentioned and im trying out Jamba follow strobing to attempt to recreate my previous setup.

IS has been working like a charm, but last night i introduced Jamba to my install and enabled strobing in IS SHIFT+ALT+F iirc.

Kicked off perfectly, but after 5 minutes of running around i swapped characters to clear out bag space and quickly found out all my characters were set to follow someone and none would break the follow they had set.

So i was basically unable to move with my group because when Jamba strobed my main character would simply turn around and follow one of the other shaman.

I've had a brief chat with Lax who believes there may be a bug with Jamba not passing through the jamba settings quickly enough before the window swap and he suggested as few things that unfortunately didnt work.

If anyone has had similar or indeed knows of this problem, please post :-)

Stobing or "sticky" follow is a must for me, as i've played with it for months and months previously and i think its the best thing since sliced bread :D

I have Isboxer pass a command to set my "active" character as Jamba master on window swap. Once I do the swap, I will manually hit shift-alt-f to change follow strobing to the new master again. If you like Isboxer can send a command for you to do this automoatically also, but I prefer the manual setup. I am not sure if you have tried doing it this way, but I don't have any problems getting strobing follow to work with jamba and isboxer, so there are ways to do it, its just a matter of working out a way that suits you best.

Humm not doing a shift+alt+f keypress after swapping characters could be where i was coming unstuck....its not a very friendly combination, i might change it to the pgup key and get water shield to activate at the same time as a reminder, also set the camera angle again. hopefully that can all be done in one keypress. :x

no its not. Must admit my follow key is "-" rather than that, but if you are using isboxer defaults then that is what it is from memory. I then just hit a formation key to break follow and switch strobing off.

Make sure you're not using Strobe Follow, as that sounds like your issue.

Strobe is good, in that your toons will follow regularly without input from you (aside from turning it on, or switching to a new toon - if it is set up that way).
If you use strobe, you'll want a key to disable Strobe, or possibly tie that to independent slave movement or formations (as mentioned above).

If you go with manual follow, instead of Strobe... I lost characters for a while, but have put follow onto a mouse thumb button, and after a bit of practice to form the habit, this is not an issue any more.

but strobing is what i want , i dont mess around with formations, i just like to pvp

i just want to select the window, for that character to become the jamba main and for strobing to kick in :D

Ok, part of your problem is this command:

/jamba-team iammaster all

This command tells the current toon to tell all the other toons that it is the master. What happens is that Jamba then sends a message on the addon channel to the other toons. This takes a small amount of time due to the latency in the addon channel. This is fine for PVE, but not so good for PVP.

What you want to do is remove that command and add in 5 new commands, one for each toon (I'm assuming you 5 box).

Let say I use the F1 key to swap to toon1 and set it to the master, F2 to swap to toon2 and set it to the master, etc.

F1 has a macro

/jamba-team master toon1

F2 has a macro

/jamba-team master toon2

etc

You need to make sure each F1 - F5 is being broadcast to all toons.

Doing it this way means that the toon instantly swaps to the given master without the delay of the addon channel.

Also, in the Jamba Follow options screen (/jamba-follow) you might like to turn on the option called "Always Use Master As The Strobe Target".

You should be able to get ISBoxer to issue the commands when you switch toons by clicking on their window rather than by pressing a key (but I'm not 100% sure).

yer i see what you mean Jafula, but a seperate button for each would give me even more of a headache :D

Im hoping your last comment about ISBoxer is possible as i can see a way around it then :>

having messed around some more i bound the Control > Mapped Keys > Jamba Master to PGUP which is my mouse thumb button,

turning strobing on and pressing the mouse button as i change windows seems to do the job and send the command though, i cant see a huge amount of latency coming from the addon channel as it feels pretty instant.

I'll arse about with it for the week and see how it goes, appreciate your feedback, both IS and Jamba have made great progress since i stopped well over a year ago, its nice to play around with some new "kit"

Yes, its possible, check out Character Sets -> click on a slot (like 1) -> see the option called "do this mapped key" - probably set to Control / JambaMaster.

You want to make 5 new Control / JambaMaster1 macros and set them up specifically for each toon and each slot. In the new mapped keys, make sure you broadcast to all toons.

If you want to use Strobing...

You can set it to strobe when you switch characters/windows.

I'd still have a mapped key, which disables Strobe (on Step 1).
And enables Strobe (on Step 2), Current Window.

Just to be able to manually control Strobe, if it bugs out.

Is there anyway that explains what Jamba Strobing is at all? As in how it differs from normal wow /follow ?

Thanks,

Chris

Jamba Follow Strobing is /follow but issued once a second automatically by the addon. If follow breaks on a toon it automatically /follows again without your input. Good for PVP (where you can easily round up after a fear by running your master near your slaves) or good for travel through phases where follow breaks.

Ah excellent, many thanks. I had not tried it to date so will give that a go. :-)
