Hey, been a while but have a question and haven't found an official answer. Will they let us raf or grant levels to the two new races?
Grant 60.9 levels to a worgen and you are well on your way to 85
realm first worgen/whatever made easier by raf???
Just wondering

I would think not, since the reason you can't change race for a while is because of the whole realm-first thing. So I've heard, anyway.
It would be cool if you could but, omg, can you imagine how many people would QQ about it?

BOA gear was stated as working. (Blue post)
I bet RAF would as well if both accts had Cata
Gifting levels is where things are a lil grey. No blue response to confirm or deny
People without will scream and people with will say they planned ahead lol.

Hmm, interesting idea... might be worth the $20 to make a new acct a month before cata releases and boost up a couple guys... I kinda wanted to roll some more priests anyway...

Is there a way to know when my RAF ends from looking at my BNet so I can see if I will be able to test a grant out?

on your account managament page it shows linked accounts and when they linking expires
At the beginning of WOTLK, the realm first 80 DK (guy in my guild) did the starting area which got him to 57.9 then raf-gifted himself 3 levels up til 60.9 to give himself a head start. Cant see why the new races would be any different.

I'm assuming you will be able to have a lvl 60.9999 worgen or goblin in about 5 minutes after login if you have the granted levels available and plan it out right.

I would tend to think RAF, like BoA items and race changes will work.
But like BoA or race changes, that will automatically disqualify you for Realm First achievements.

If you want Realm First, you'd probably want to pretend you have RAF.
With RAF, the quickest leveling is boosting.
When you earn 100% experience instead of 300%, the difference between the #1 and #2 methods will be smaller, but the relative order will be the same.
I'd probably boost a pair of toons, so you can do Pet/Totem boosting as well as instance boosting.
So you get your toons to 10th.
Then do instances with them, for as long as your booster can pull most of an instance.
The 1st to 60th, takes 3x longer then with RAF.
But boosting will still be faster then questing, even if the difference isn't as great between the two.
Eventually move on to Rhinos in Borean Tundra.
Tag a bunch of mobs, with the lowbies who are grouped.
Then have the boosters (3x Shaman) round-robin Stoneclaw Totems, while dropping Magma (x3).
Don't waste time looting, if you're going for Realm First.
I've done 60-70 via Rhinos in a very boring Saturday morning + afternoon.
Not sure if there would be a good area for 70-80, rhino like boosting.
Possibly somewhere in Icecrown or Sholozar Basin.
Hopefully by the time you hit 80th, the initial rush is done.
And the zones while crowded aren't terribly crowded.
Definitely get Carbonite or something similar to QuestHelper, once questing is your primary leveling tool.
Could one-box a toon, with a healer/buffer on auto follow outside of the group.

The new races will be stuck in their new starting areas until about lvl 12 though, so any tricks would have to be applied after that, though BoA in the starting zone would be a must either way.

level 12 is what, 2-3h max solo, in new content. It shouldn't be significant in the long run

so, the fastest way, is to get 2 new worgen/goblin toons, with RAF, so full cata accts on both, quest as a duo, you should go a bit faster than solo, and end up with more exp by the time you are out of the starting zone, then have a previously RAF'd toon grant levels to 60.99 then continue on solo, or keep the duo to make some quests a bit faster, at least at the beginning when you have shit for gear. I guess you could also do dungeon boosting to at least 70.

Should work. If they disabled RAF for the new races they'd have to specially code it and wouldn't make much sense.
Don't see why it wouldn't work.

Good luck with realm first as I'm sure there are some insane people out there racing against you. I remember teams of people leveling one character 24 hours a day at the start of wrath.

I would rather slam my head in a steel door than race for realm first anything, lol. Yeah it'd be cool but you're up against people who will play 24/7 with RAF whatever it takes. Also with every expansion if you do /who new zone such as /who gilneas You'll see that lot of people get the game days before release. How they get it beats the hell out of me.

I don't see them breaking RAF for the new zones.
Or preventing race changes, etc.
Or preventing heirlooms.
Way back they posted, if you use heirlooms to level the new races, you won't get realm first even if you're the first to finish leveling.
I'd imagine it will be the same for RAF, race changes etc.
I will level my toons as quickly as I can, provided the game is still enjoyable doing it.
I might level a group of Worgen, but don't have much interest in Goblins.
I won't be in contention for realm first, for anything, but still find challenging myself to a personal best to be quite fun.

If you can use RAF, then those crazies will also be using RAF. If someone is that dedicated/crazy to go for a realm first in leveling, then you can be assured they also know the tricks (i.e. you didn't stumble on something that the nutsos don't already know).
