I have never been able to do this correctly and I think my question got lost in the Screenshots and Digital art forum:
http://www.dual-boxing.com/showthread.php?t=32379&page=2

Basically what I'm asking is, once I create a great UI like Restraint has shown in the first page of that link, how do I use it for every toon without recreating it over and over and over.

I use ISBoxer/Innerspace so I'm basically using just one account from the WoW folder, but individually my toons are all saved under their name.

One time I tried this someone had said to just copy over your wtf folder? That didn't work and I still had to recreate my UI on every toon, which is of course very time consuming.

HELP!

What I do is, install everything (kgpanels, bartender, SUF, etc), obviously. I set everything up the way I want it on one character and create a profile for all the addons that allow it. Then I exit the game and go into /WTF/account name/saved variables/ and copy everything in there. Once that's copied to the clipboard, go into every other /account name/saved variable/ folder and replace whatever's there. Then I do the same thing with the other saved variables folder that is in /acc name/character name/; copy paste from the one I set up to all others.

Once you log in the other toons, all you should have to do is select profiles for a few addons. It takes ~30 secs each or ~30 for all if you use the mouse repeater :P. That's the fastest way I've found to do it. There's also and addon out there that allows you to create profiles for addons that don't have them natively but I can't remember what it's called. I haven't used it yet but I've heard you can simplify the process I described even more with it.

I'm at work so I can't double check directories and stuff, but that should be pretty close. Hope that's what you were looking for.

I would personally set up your UI, via mouse and keyboard broadcasting, across your five accounts.
That way, it should be identical for one toon on each of your accounts.

A lot of your information is stored on an account basis.
So if it is correct for one toon on the account, it is correct for all of them.

Some of the information is stored on a per character basis.
If there's an option to save a configuration, and then load it with another character, that should be used.

If that's not the case, you can frequently copy the saved variables and paste for the new character.
There is WTF > Account > Account Name > Saved Variables, which is account wide stuff.
And WTF > Account > Account Name > Server Name > Character Name, which is character specific stuff.

Unfortunately, some addons need to be configured on each toon, but there aren't a lot of those.

I would like to do this, but I have now 3 teams of five that I play so I'd have to repeat this three times.

Plus something weird has happened with my main team since the 4.01 patch. The screen/resolution settings all appear the same, but something must be different on three of the screens, because when I turn on repeating in ISBoxer to select, let's say a random dungeon where I want them all to accept yes at the same time, three of the images for that pop up box are somewhat larger than the main screen (Paladin) and my first window (top left corner of four) on my second monitor. I've searched and searched to try and find the discrepency in the VIDEO settings while in game and cannot find where they are different.

Plus right now my UI is okay, but I want to make one that is perfect, but not on my main account since I don't want to tinker with that while it's working okay.

My desire is to get on to one of my level 1 bank toons and start the UI process with that toon until it's perfect. Then I wanted to hopefully export it to all my toons so they are all exactly the same, without a lot of hassle. It sounds like there is no perfect way to do that (and there should be!), so for right now I'll just tweak one of my level one toons until I have what I want and slowly start changing them all over.

Thanks for your replies!
They are always appreciated.

What Ualaa and I described with the WTF folder will do almost exactly what you're saying. After you copy the premade setup from your bank toon's wtf files to the rest of the characters, you're only a couple clicks away.

For the windows not matching up, check your UI scale in video settings or wherever it is (still at work). I had the same problem after that patch and I think that was the culprit.

Thanks, birdbleed, will do that. I'm in the process now of making a list of all the addons I think I'll need for what I want to accomplish. Which hopefully will be a simple, clutter-free viewing screen.

Np. Good luck :D

Check out the thread in this section titled "Quick Poll, WoWAce, VS Curse, VS Other" if you haven't already. Everyone's posting their favorites so you might find something new you like there.

tried Reflux (http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-addons/details/reflux.aspx)? i found it useful for when I was replicating my UI across all toons. i basically used wow-lui (http://wow-lui.com/) with some lua changes to accomodate Vuhdo (instead of Grid) and other addons.

my current UI below. note the mammoth parade i started :D

WOW - that's exactly where I want to start. Thank you!

I have a question. While I work on my UI, can I copy my whole wow folder onto my main HD from my SSD and work on it there so it won't alter my current UI until I get the new one playable?

Thoughts?

yes you can do that. but i would just backup the "Interface" and "WTF" folders which is on the SSD and work on it from there. you'll benefit from the load times coz i imagine you'll be doing quite a bit of this -> "/console reloadui" :)

before i start mucking around, i also take a screenshot of the current UI and other important configurations so in case something goes wrong, i could still recreate the look and feel of the old UI.

That's a great idea, thanks!
