special holiday bosses question

I know before the dungeon finder, when a special holiday boss is in an instance, you just go to that instance and fight the boss.

I have not tried since they implemented dungeon finder but remember reading a blue post that you have to join a dungeon finder queue. Is this correct or am I imagining things?

My question is, if I 4 box and have to use the dungeon finder, will it queue me with another player to make a full group? Or can I just 4-box the headless horseman without any extra player(s) joining my group?

You need a valid group comp, healer, tank, 3x dps to get into a Dungeon Finder queue.

The only way to get to the horseman boss is via the Dungeon finder.

So you could Q up as 3 dps and 1 tank or any combo and just wait for one random to join you in the Q.

You need a 5th person to use LFG. If all 4 queue a random person will join your group. Enter the dungeon and you could ask them to leave or I guess be a jerk and boot them =)

The good thing is that by using the LFD tool that you basically can do unlimited attempts in a day, You only get a bag with special items in it once a day but you can still get drops from him. You would have been limited to 4 attempts in a day with the old way it worked.

This morning, near the Dalaran bank, was a floating undead with a pumpkin head. He had the 'quote' icon when I moused over him, so I clicked it and it was something about "boo hoo, the Horseman's got my head" along those lines. There was an option to port to him from that dialog. That may be something new, because I'd never noticed him before.

Yep! Last night I did about 5 attempts in about 15 minutes, and beat that sucker like a loot pinata. Tonight when I have more time to play, I'll do it again to get both caster rings for my elemental shammies, and, maybe, one of the rarer drops, too.

I'm glad that they made the HH mount drop from the bag you get doing the event. That way I only have to do it once a day per team. No point in doing it more than once per team unless you need the lvl 200 rings.

On the plus side, they seem to have increased the drop rate of the HH mount. What sucks though is that since it isn't on the boss corpse, if you already have it, you can't let someone else have it. Lame.

I farmed it by summoning in alts and killing him 30 times a day. Took forever, but I did manage to get one mount last year.

Well the old way HH could be summoned once a day by everyone. The horse and all the good stuff was on the corpse not in a loot bag.

So by farm we mean funneling all your summons to your main. Like the Brewfest Kodo/Ram this year. I had it drop for all my slaves while my main goes another year without. I picture the HH mount dropping but of course will be on a slave and unable to trade.
