If you go train Master Riding (310%) Make sure you do NOT train in Dalaran. Train in Warsong Hold or Valiance Keep so you can get a discount, if you're exalted, it's 4k gold instead of the 5k.

I'm gonna be super cheap though if I come back and just level up my 70 Shamans with 310% speed already. Paladins seem like they took a beating with all the complaints everyone got.

I got my VPDs this Brewfest.....sitting in my banks because I did not have the appropriate riding skill.....did I just lose 5k x5 because I didn't upgrade prior to patch and now have to spend an additional 5k x 5 for the 310 boost in addition? I can't check now:(

What's the use of learning it now, when you don't have 310% mount?
My mounts still show 280% speed (dont have any 310% mounts)

This looks to be the case, yes.

Basically it works like this - all mounts now are the same speed. They go as fast as your mount skill lets you go. If you have 150% then all flying mounts will go 150%. same with 280% and 310%.

If you already had a 310% mount learned before 4.01 then you automatically get the 310% "Master" mount skill.

Apart from that you have to buy the 310% skill now.

what I like the most is that now ALL my flying mounts are 310% and all landmounts are 100%. And I do find the horses you get at level 20 prettier than the ones you can buy later. So great you can use them now and not feel like a turtle.

Hmm I didn't know that about the lvl 20 mounts. Could ride some lvl 20 elephants but damn they look a bit sickly =)

mounts speed is not tied to the mount anymore. its tied to your skill. Like the DK flying mount that speed up as they mount skill up.

Does the riding turtle also get the speed boost? That would be pretty cool if so.

I'm glad I can use my Snowy gryphons now, I always liked them better than the armored ones.

Will have to put the 80, with the faster riding skill on follow, behind toons with a slower mount.

I had to buy a slower mount with a Druid I used for boosting, since once you learn the epic flyer you lose the slow flyer. All good, as they're all 80th with epic flying now.

Nah, it's not that bad. Discount applies to both riding skills.

Thanks for the tip, I wasted about 3k gold buying the skill in Dalaran the first day. I bought it on a few more guys, and it was only like 4.2k in vallance keep or whatever it's called.

They added a change now that if you get a violet proto, it'll give you the 310% training for free when you mount it, only takes 280% training to learn it.

As with all Blizzard changes that they think are good and pat themselves on the back, they neglect to include an option to turn it off :(

Is an extra 4k gold (a.k.a. 16k-20k per team) really worth it to get some where 7.3% faster? [ (30%) /(410%) ]

Not for me, world PvP takes place on the ground, and I haven't had to chase people to kill them since the days of solo-boxing a warlock :p

Yep! It isn't as if when you're flying around you absolutely need to have your higher level character in the lead.
