Yes, my first heroic!

Yes, today I tried my first lvl 80 heroic and I succeded! It was utgardt keep, played it with my four hunters + pally healer. Two wipes on the 2nd boss duo, but that was all.

Currently my hunters all have Rowans rifle of silver bullets, bought at AH. I know this isn't optimal for hunters but still very good at this point. Is there any better ranged weapon to get from heroic dungeons or is it better to wait and upgrade them after cataclysm?

But I really hate Volley has been removed (at least I didnt find it). Now hunters have no aoe at all (except explosive trap). Those skeleton adds were a real pain in the ass because of this. :(

Wow! Congratulations! I never even thought about trying hunters in heroics. What pets did you use? And I didn't know they removed volley..that sucks ass. :( Haven't set my hunters back up after the patch yet.

I currently use four bears since they are my tanks and I want backup bears in case one or two dies.

I'm also thinking of trying to tank with my pally instead, and replace one of the hunters with a priest.

Tanking with a pally is very viable with the new Seal of Insight + Word of Glory. My pally kicks off a maxed Word of Glory and heals herself for 14k a pop. Flippin rules. :D

Yes. I ran H-DTK last night with fubar macros (i.e.: I don't have targeted heals even on my hotbars yet) and the rets only pulling 2k DPS (Seal of Insight, just in case) and nobody died. I even flubbed the first pull after King Dred and got both 4-pulls plus the roaming Death Knight (9 total) and nobody even got close to dying. It's crazy stuff. I'm sure it'll all even out when we're running content designed for the new talents but right now, it's pretty silly.

The weapon you have is the best you can get outside of ICC25 lady deathwhisper, or maybe ToGC25, so I wouldn't sweat it. Unless it changed in 4.0.1, it has such high DPS that it makes up for the lack of agility.

With reforging I yesterday also converted some of that dodge rating on Rowans rifle to crit rating.

They all share the role. Now and then one of them dies when fighting many mobs or bosses, so backup pettanks are needed to make sure another bear takes over the tanking if first one dies.

Isn't there a pet talent that lets you instantly rez a bear even in combat ? or is it gone with the 4.0.1 patch revamp ?

What about some honor farming for one of the Wrathful ranged weapons? While it's the same DPS, it should have a lot better stats geared for your hunters.

Link one or more of your hunters armory in here, IMO, so we have a feel for what you're running. I'm sure other hunters would find it useful.

But all those require rating, just looked and it said rating 1800 was needed for e.g. a crossbow.
I only do pve and bg/wg, never any arena.

I think its only the tier 2 pvp weapons require rating, not sure. Some pieces say a rating, but you can buy them still.

Rating requirements haev been removed, its just a glitch that it shows the requirement, you can buy it regardless of it being red.

I started out with 4 hunters and a priest but ended up going 3 Hunters, 1 Priest, and 1 Pally.

I haven't played for a long time, but am thinking about firing things up again before Cata comes out so I'm warmed up and ready.

I think you mean Heart of the Phoenix, but i believe that's only for dps pets

I tried out tanking once in her healing gear and it went very bad...lol
