In case anyone was wondering (Donwho? WTF is that? ) I lost my oldest and (in a time long, long ago) dearest machine to the ravages of dust, my cleaning lady and universal entropy. It wasn't pretty, but at least it didn't cause a fire.

Short version: new hardware and dual-boot OS install complete (XP/Vista32, Q6600, 8800GT, etc., etc.) and now I'm just restoring all the goodies to my new main box. I hadn't upgraded my main game rig in a few years so I was due for the late christmas gift to myself.

Probably catch you guys online again this weekend.

/salute

[edit] P.S. Cooler Master cases ('http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119068') freakin rule. Tool-less, good quality, and inexpensive. Beats Antec and any of the other Taiwan clones hands-down.

I always wonder why people don't hit up those 800 dollar cans of compressed air (really there hella expensive so it seems) and air out their comps. Man my roommate messed up his graphics card to dust. I was surprised it did not catch fire. My other 2 roommates also don't believe in compressed air their comps were on the verge also. I had to clean it for them.

Side note. Glad you got your new comp.

This is my main case now. Built in filters for Air, plus the 3 giganto fans prevent dust from settling.

Cooler Master is the shit

It should be noted that dust wasn't the problem. :P I was attempting humor in the vein of "OMG, don't you people ever freakin vacuum?!?" Ah, well.

Tested it last night. WoW gets 60+ FPS while using GameCam to capture 1024x768 AVIs. I'm highly impressed. As a test, I looked straight at the floor in Org and turned off VSync. 310 FPS. /rofl

On a related note, Crysis still gets 20 fps at 1600x1200 with 16x FSAA on. SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSMOKIN!

The saga continues. My spiffy new quad core box is having some nefarious intermittent hardware issue. I think I've isolated things to a bad stick of RAM but not totally convinced yet. We'll see.

On the upside, got the boys up from 47 to 52 over the weekend, so things continue progressing towards fun. :)
