here it is, i'll leave it to you guys to tell me exactly how many dungeons/ heroics/ etc it will take to gear up in cata :P
Although we’ve revealed some details of the conversion process (https://forums.wow-europe.com/thread...74620794&sid=1 (https://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=14574620794&sid=1)), many of you have asked how many Justice and Valor Points bosses and daily dungeons will actually award. This list is incomplete, and the values may still change, but it covers the majority of the content we’ve been asked about.
Lich King Heroic dungeon boss -- 16 Justice Points
Lich King daily normal dungeon -- 12 Justice Points
Lich King daily Heroic dungeon -- 23 Justice Points
Lich King raid boss -- 23 Justice Points
Cataclysm Heroic dungeon boss -- 75 Justice Points
Cataclysm daily normal dungeon -- 75 Justice Points
Cataclysm daily Heroic dungeon -- 75 Valor Points
Cataclysm 10-player raid boss -- 75 Valor Points
Cataclysm 25-player raid boss -- 105 Valor Points
It’s important to note that once you outgrow content, by leveling past it by a predetermined amount, you’ll no longer gain points. The ‘outgrown’ level for end-game Wrath of the Lich King content is likely to be level 81. Once you level beyond Lich King content you’ll still be able to enter the dungeons, kill bosses, and see their drops, but they will not award you with points. This same principle applies to all content that provides Justice Points, including content from The Burning Crusade.

So would it be feasible to lock your xp while still lvl 80, then continue to run LK instances until you had as many points as you needed to gear up when you hit 85, then turn xp gains back on? Probably be easier and quicker than learning new dungeons in out of date gear at lvl 85. Yet another use for Garfrost. (Assuming points are distributed on a per boss kill basis)

Or you could keep your XP unlocked and gain XP in those same LK Heroics to help you along the way towards 85. :)

But once you hit 81 you stop getting justice points for LK content

I see... reading the entire post FTW. Lock yourself just before you hit 81, I guess? 80 to 85 is going to take as long as 70 - 80 did, so I guess however long it takes to level from 70 - 72 is how long it will take to hit 81. If someone wants to do the math on approximately how many instance runs that takes [without rested] and then multiply that by the values above to hit the cap.

ATM 80-81 is about 1.68m xp (or just over 79-80 requirement)....took my t9 geared paladin about 5 hours to go from 80-81 in Mt Hyjal with about 15% rested xp initially banked from 2 years of being level 80 :)
I do agree though, hititng up starter zones like Hyjal and leveling till just before 81 to get some of the new gear and then locking xp and grinding LK heroics is a good option.
Save your 4k JP before cata, go buy 2 peices of JP gear right away (won't be useable until 85 but still), get to level 80.9 in Hyjal, lock xp, grind 4k JP in LK Heroics, buy JP gear, repeat until you have all JP gear you need then go back to Hyjal seems the best leveling flow atm based on this data
[EDIT]
At 16JP per boss it will take 250 bosses to hit the 4k cap (not counting the extra 23 for the daily). H LK instances have an average of ~5 bosses so looking at roughly 50 instances to cap yourself in JP each time you start from 0 balance

I'm surprised that don't give you any JP for normal cat dungeons. I guess they don't want you farming them...

I thought I read that you cannot purchase an item with points that you dont meet the minimum requirements to wear. IE, you cant by the lvl 85 gear till you hit 85. That means you will have 2 pieces to buy right when you hit 85, then you have to start the grind for more points.
might be an option for some of my toons as i won't upgrade them to cata right away.
At least those will reach the cap on Wotlk content without having to lock xp.

I believe i read that somewhere as well.

...In addition, purchasing any item with these secondary currencies (Honor Points and Justice Points) will now require that the purchaser meet the item's minimum level requirement.

Might not be worth it now, but what about the Outland gear from current badges? I know badges are getting converted to gold if you have any in your currency panel, but as far as purchasing them in Cata or 4.0, whichever this update is coming with, whats the currency for them going to be? Gold, JPs, or something else?

I wonder about the wording of the original post:
Lich King Heroic dungeon boss -- 16 Justice Points
Lich King daily normal dungeon -- 12 Justice Points
Lich King daily Heroic dungeon -- 23 Justice Points
Is the "daily" mechanic remaining the same so we can farm random heroics with that little extra boost, or is the boost a once a day only thing?
Same goes for Cataclysm random normals - Once a day or more?
I truly hope for more.
Oh, and I was also wondering about the outland gear - it would be great to just buy that for alt levelling, but since we jump to bop greens that are almost as good at 68, I'm not sure the use.

I hope the level requirement (i.e. being 85 to buy 85 gear) gets lifted after the first cata content patch. They are only doing that to prevent people from doing what was mentioned in the thread, lock xp at 80, farm wrath heroics like we've been doing for months, and get a whole kit of lvl 85 gear, then unlocking xp and power leveling to 85. They are trying to find ways to balance "casual" players with "hardcore" players. Casual gamers make blizzard a LOT more money than the hardcore ones, so they have to cater more to that type of player.
I don't think it's really going to be a big deal. Cata heroics give nearly 5x more justice points per boss than wrath ones do, so even if farming them at lvl 85 takes 5x as long as a wrath heroic, you still end up the same, and I'm sure they will only get faster.

/Palmface it is the same as the current setup... 1st random heroic you run you get 2 frost badges and 1st random normal gives 2 triumph. Except now it will be JPs instead.

Actually, the word daily implies once a day. As in "Lich King daily normal dungeon -- 12 Justice Points"
That's a once a day reward.
It may have been overlooked, but the old heroic daily reward was 2 frost, the currency everyone wanted.
If it was meant to be a reward for every run, proper use would be "Lich King Heroic dungeon - 23 Justice Points", but it isn't, it adds the word daily. As in once a day.
But, as I just did 2 of them and got the reward, it's clearly NOT a daily reward - like before you can do it over and over.
