Damn i'm glad to be getting Wotlk pvp behind me. The absolutely rediculous aoe is just freaking stupid. I got into arena and one druid hits one button and does 50k damage, or a warrior does 50k with one button. Dang I can't wait for this crap to be over with and get a reset back to where no one has an IWIN button over my group of 5. Yea yeah, i know you can spread out and stuff but face it, sometimes, well a lot of time, you can't and most of the spell goes off and obliterates your team.
And thank god arena's are being put to bed for the most part, I could really do without that part of my life. The never ending frustration everytime I get somewhere only to be knocked back down by some team. it's totally not worth the frustration, you should never be punished for losing, it's a damn video game, not life. I get enough of that crap when i fick up in real life. I always enjoyed pvp, but arena really left a bad taste in my mouth after all these years. I can't even count how man pro's have owned my ass and knocked me down in rating. I can't count how many nights I spent hours to gain 10 points or worse yet lose 50.
I really hope this new system is decent because I'm really completely, and totally over the existing arena pvp ladder bs.
sorry for the rant, but damn i'm over this rated arena stuff and having a hell of a time getting competitive pvp gear.

Err, you pay for wow and spend time on something in it that frustrates you?
Sounds like you are managing your precious free time very poorly :)
Rated battlegrounds will be worse for multiboxers than arena IMO, we will never be as good as 5 players and we will not be accepted into any good team - we can solo our way up to high ratings there. And also I expect rated battlegrounds to be completely dominated by stupid cheesy tactics, something I like but many people find annoying because its not how *they* thing it *should* be like.

That is an interesting point you bring up. However I only partially agree. Multiboxers will have to adapt, and then they 'll be a big asset for the team, something solo players can't bring, definitely not with the pvp changes in cata, i.e. focused fire. With adapt I mean: change your setup in function of the team and the respective BG. You can't expect that a serious team will take in each and every 5x shaman boxers in WsG or AB. However if you were to multibox 3x (resto) druids, you'd make a very strong flag carrier / guard. In AV i see a team of 5 shamans backed up with a healer or 2 and a hunter / lock dominating the midfield (don't underestimate the importance to have a team running around and taking out/slowing down everyone who is on their way to an objective). etc etc ... each bg and each team will have it's own needs. And I'm very sure multiboxers will fit in.

I for one will miss the grind and frustration cuz I believe it's the only thing that forced me to try to be better. Rated bgs will be hard for my current play style (i just love running 5 shamans) but like all things in life, I will adapt or find something else to do.

In rated bgs, AV will become the biggest race/zerg/last boss f%$# fest you will ever see. There will be premade stealth teams to go kill the boss as well i reckon lol.

I have to completely disagree on that. The only advantage a boxer brings is focussed fire. You're not able to CC as good as 3,4 or 5 different players. So 3 resto druids will and should always outpreform 3 boxed resto druids.
It's something comparable with PVE, where you can preform well by brute forcing content quite easily. As soon as it gets complicated and requires CC and a lot of movement, it's a lot harder. Same applies for PVP. Once you meet actually good players, a team of 3 players will be able to properly give you a hard time.
Besides the focussed burst, you'll also only need 6 + 1 boxer = 7 players instead of 10. I'm pretty sure that'll be helpful aswell. Because people seem to forget that you're gonna need up to 25 good pvpers to actually do well in AV for example, so i really don't see the average AVgroup being full stealth or anything.

They die like a fly? Can't iceblock with flag. Only destro locks die faster i think.

WSG will be tough for sure, but AB is managable with a communicating team. Your boxer roams to support while 2 or 3 stay at each flag, works well, but not in pugs cause no one talks. AV boxers will dominate, with a healer or 2, I could hold off half their team at galv no problem. NEVER underestimate supreme coordination. EOTS is very winninble with boxers, SotA is tough on O, but great on D for boxers (you just man up right at the last gate. Yes, 5 players are better than 1 boxers, BUT, 5 players can never match the coordinated burst of a boxer. And when people die in a global, heals can't do jack.
Plus, having 5 fire elementals out for 2 out of every 5 minutes is a BIG deal. Being able to use abilities like reincarnate and elemental totems is a huge bonus that shamans never enjoyed in arena's.
Don't forget, a lot more people are going to play rated bg's than played arena. Now that they only gain points from winning and can eventually gear up that way, they will play bg's en masse. Yeah you'll get pro teams, but there will be TONS of pug teams and such and I really feel positive about it.

I see your point, but I wasn't posting with the top rated BG teams in mind, or to reach #1 spot. And outdrsyguy worded what I wanted to say.

And on an added note: I believe it takes a certain kind of mindset/skill from your teammates to make a boxer valuable in the team. If they understand the asset a boxer can bring, understand the limits of boxing, then it's a big win. If not, then a boxer might handicap the team.

Then your points is valid indeed. That's comparable with pugs these days where the 4 restokins will be a tough nut.

/agree aswell.
"let's join the boxer, so we're even stronger" in AB ftl.

Well, you don't have to play all 5 ALL the time. Play 3 if in a smaller group BG, the game is about trying to win and have fun doing it. If bringing fewer slaves is beneficial to the team, I am sure we all be glad to do that.

PVP was so much fun at the end of BC. I could spend all night just doing AV.
as it is now the only PVP is wintergasp where there are so few horde on my server we pretty much have to kill the NCP at the horde flight stop just to have something to shoot at (how can that be fun for either side). AV rarely last 3-5 minutes with people killing the bosses with all towers up ( no more epic full length battles there)
PVP sux and I think most of the PVP changes were supposed to be anti-boxing "fixes"... if those fixes were so wonderful why doesn't everyone do it to the same extent that we used to in BC.

Make no mistake here. WOW is a PVE game. All the development effort was spent on making new PVE contents. PVP is an add-on. No depth in PVP, no major update for PVP, it is simply a meta game there for you to kill time or take a break from PVE. If the focus is PVP, we be having skills that only usable in PVP, constant world events dedicated to PVP, as well as rewards that encourage you to go out and PVP.
As for why we didn't play as much as in BC, that was like 3 years ago, we've been playing the same PVP since wow release. A little change here and there doesn't make it a new game.

So true its not even funny. I am still amazed to this day on how they can market pvp as an esport.
