Starting to box seriously, might need a few hints :-)

Greetings people of dual-boxing.com!

I've been multiboxing several trial accounts and dualboxed some of my battle.net accounts on and off for two years now, nothing really serious. And I still don't know how it fully works.

Today I've decided that I shall start multiboxing since I have lost interest in World of Warcraft now when I've reached pretty much every goal you can when it comes to pvp and pve. I have two battle.net accounts filled, eight wow accounts in each. I don't really know why, shit happens you know.. :p Anyhow, My plan is to use two of my main accounts, and RAF from them. And I wouldn't mind a helping hand while I get into this. :) I want to box 5 shamans (as a start).


Hardware

Two hours ago, I purchased two HP 20'' flat screens, they where really cheap so that's why I bought them this early into my boxing idea. I already have a 30'' 1080p flat screen as my main screen, the idea is to tilt the two 20'' and put them on the sides of the 30'', and then have two wow clients on each of the two on the sides, and my main account on the main screen.

I also bought a R.A.T 7 gaming mouse (just for the looks really, it's so hot... ) And I have a G15 keyboard with the 18x3 extra keys on the left side.

I have a rather powerful computer, it can easily handle 5 wow clients. So I'm planning on using one computer for my setup. I also bought a alienware m11x a week ago, so sometimes I might use that one to host a wow client aswell, don't think it's needed though.

Pictures and Videos will be published as soon as I have everything setup.

So, my questions at this point;

What do I need more... Any decent extra key pad or something? Or is my G15 enough to handle five shamans?

Should I use one of my other computers to power two accounts instead of letting my main computer do it all? what's positive and negativ by using one computer?

What software should I use? In the start now, I'll start playing around with keyclone. Is ISBoxer better? What is ******** then? I want a good program that I can learn to handle to the fullest, I want to be able to easily adjust the clients to fully fill out the screens nicely. I don't want to count like in keyclone it looks so messy.. :/ Do I really need 5 copies of wow?

Addons? Decent wow addons that will help me alot? Jamba? Shaman macros?

If I want more screens later on, what do I need? More grapic cards?? Is that the only way to use several screens on one computer? isn't it possible to somehow... use several screens with just two graphic cards? with converters or something? hmm......

What's important to think about in the start of my boxing career? Level by questing or boosting with my mains?... hmm..

The reason to why I made a whole thread here is cause I want to create a place where I can update my "project". I will post pictures of the rig and so on when I get the hang of this, and I still need to wait untill the screens arrive. :)

I hope you guys can give me a few hints on how I shall do this. I have a rather decent income and I have nothing to spend my money on, so why not do something I love? Right now my girl friend is out shopping using my Mastercard, and it feels like a waste when I can do something I like instead. :)

- I have a G15 as well and have been boxing for about two-years using it with much success. I've been considering jumping up to ten-boxing so I now also use a Wolking Warrior. It helps alot, especially with my wrist during long playing sessions. I only had a little trouble finding one. Ebay was my savior.

- I have tried boxing with two machines before jumping to a single one. I have found that there is still lag between the commands but less on one machine versus two. I'm planning on pushing mine to the max since I want to ten-box on a single machine. We'll see in a few months if my hopes are shattered.

- I have been using KeyClone for two years and still continue to use it although I have since added ISBoxer into my software list. I feel ISBoxer will help alot more in the way of ten-boxing. However, I actually prefer KeyClone when leveling. I'm rather new to ISBoxer so I may eventually completely switch over. The mouse broadcasting it really, imo, what makes ISBoxer shine. I can't wait to really use that software to its fullest.

I'm rather confused by what you mean with the 'do you need 5 copies of WoW'. If you mean folders, the answer is no. I use Link Shell Extension to create virtual links between the folders so I only have to update one client. I can't move away from having seperate WTF folders, mainly b/c I'm paranoid about my settings going screwy.

- Jamba, definitely. I don't know how I survived before Jamba. Everything else, imo, is preference. I used Addon Control Panel and have different addon sets for what I'm doing. I use Macaroon for bars and Xperl for party frames but have since started playing around with Clique and Grid. Definitely Jamba though. Get Jamba.

I play 1 pally, 4 elemental shaman and I honestly don't use too many macros. I have my follow key and use a focus setup even though that may change shortly. I have five keys for DPS and 1 to drop totems and a few to do a few other things like drop my elementals or hit BL. Regardless, it's simpler when you have all the same class.

- I run three 23" monitors. Right now, two of them are in SLI on GTX 260s and the third is running on my little card, a GTS 240, I think. I've heard that SLI cuts down frames (please someone else correct me if I'm wrong) so I'm going to take them out when I get a chance. I run my main on full settings and all clones on the lowest except I like to have a good view distance. I set max frames to 20FPS on all clones and let my main go all out.

I have never had problems with lag in Dalaran and most of the time I am doing other things while playing my games. Still keeping my fingers crossed that my beast can handle ten clients.

If you add more video cards, the biggest thing to remember is that the more cards, the more power that is required, the more heat is generated and the motherboard needs to support it. I made sure my board supported three graphics cards in a x16 mode since I knew I would be running multiple monitors. I don't think I can add another card into my box without upgrading the PSU and probably going water cooling.


What's important to think about in the start of my boxing career? Level by questing or boosting with my mains?... hmm..

I enjoyed, in the beginning, questing with my teams. I was able to get a feel for them and how they work. It's nice to be able to get your hands around boxing instead of just jumping into it. I say to quest for a bit with them and get a feel for it. In my experience, it is really fast to boost with a geared 80 so you can do it either way.

Personally HOTKEYNET is my favorite. I don't know how much time you have in learning the program, but I tell ya, everytime I browse through other peoples scripts, I get a new idea of refining my multiboxing. I have say again, HOTKEYNET is not a 5 minute thing you can setup, but once you figure it out, its powerful, and its free! Hotkeynet.com has all the information you need to get you started. I run 5 accounts of WoW. 1 on my older PC (Client), and 4 on my newer PC (Server). Basically I use the newer computer to process all the information to 4 other windows of WoW. My older PC just broadcasts the keystokes to the Server so there is less lag. At least it seems to work for me.

I use Jamba as well. It's nice when leveling your boxer characters, but I'm wondering if I really need Jamba when doing Instances.

When you run SLI mode, all other monitors are disabled. That is when you run your game of WoW in Full Screen mode. So if you are able to use multiple monitors while running WoW in full screen, you probably don't have SLI mode enabled.

Well im in a position like you my friend and as of right now im currently testing most software for multiboxing to get a better understanding of these programs anyway i used up my 7 day trail for isboxer/innerspace and i must say its the most simplest multiboxing software out there anyone can get it running in under 5 minutes easily with most games that is if you know what your doing. For now im still using keyclone a software that needs alot of configuration with the options but, all i did was simply create my FFA Macro (Focus Follow Assist) so that all my newly made characters can start multiboxing with ease yes this software is free and support a performance boost for xp which is nice i guess i personally use windows 7 which will reduce your ram if you have 4GB like me then using Win7 Will kick that down to about 2GB so something to also think about when it comes to performance and lagg. Well your defiantly prepared for multiboxing any game for the fact that you have multiple systems and i have one which donest allow me to go into dalaran with ease at all but, thats because of my system specs we will not get into that as this is not your problem. Addons i recommend that i use for thing like appecting quests or even taking the same flight master and much more what will do this is a addon that all multiboxers use. Jamba - Jafula's Awesome Multi-Boxer's Assistant im sure that this will help you tons. I would like you to post your specs if you can i just wanna see what your working with if your system can handle those extra monitors your throwing at it which i think takes more out of the graphic cards. I use a razer naga which is a mouse that has the numpad on the side of the mouse now this is serious hardware when it comes to multiboxers because it allows us to have many actions and even ease of access to any spell we would like to tap easily or even press a button anyway this mouse works wonders my friend since i bought this i wont look back but, since i do like to test things i will buy other mouses to test what might be better then this one anyway for keyborads since i stayed with razer on this one i had to also use the razer Lycosa mirror special editon not a simple black keyborad this keyborad has 10 customizable software profiles with on the fly switching and even 1ms in the respond time the keys are easy to even press and your fingers will be more relaxed so this is what i think you should check out for sure.

Hehe, thanks for the replys guys. Yesterday, shortly after I started this thread I purchased ISBoxer, it's going fine atm, still a little confused while trying to figure out how the wow profiles work and such.. And I'm having some idea's of using a extra computer for two accounts instead of using my main computer. Still haven't tried that out yet, but I'm sure it will go just fine when I have this forum at my side :-)
