So this is more of a hardware question but given that not many people play EQ I figure its better to list this one here. I'm having issues getting this game to run very well and I'm a bit perplexed as to what exactly I should upgrade to improve the performance. Anyways I'm running 6 windows on my machine and its specs are:

Q9650 Oc'd to 4.2ghz
8gb 2000mhz ddr3
GTX295
2 WD Raptors in a Raid 0

Now I have turned all the settings in the game down at this point and it will run "ok" but usually after an hour or 2 of play in a newer zone 2 or 3 of the windows are running at like 8 fps if not lower. Looking at some performance stats usually only about 6gb of my ram is used at any given time while running all 6 windows, my cpu is usually near 100% ussage ( thinking this is the choke point ), the hard drives aren't making any noise so im pretty sure their not working very hard ( raptors are very loud when their working), and I'm just not sure what kind of load my GPU is under but the temp is usually pretty low in EQ ( temp is higher when I run 5 wow's.. which I can run at max settings on this machine ). So anyways if anyone has any suggestions on what I might want to upgrade at this point I would appreciate it very much, I'm considering building a dual Xeon setup but before i drop like 3 grand on that I'm trying to do some research and see if it will even help.

Hi,

EQ is all abour RAM, but 8 GBR should be enough.

Do you use WinEQ to box your Group? It helps with
the performanes on the toons and hase some nice
little features.

You should check it out http://www.lavishsoft.com/joomla/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=3&Itemid=4
its free you just have to register on the site. There is also
a pro version you have to pay for, but the free version was always
enough for me.

Have fun.

Yea I currently use Isboxer which is made by lavish who made the original WinEQ. I'm pretty sure Isboxer runs EQ better than WinEQ did even, or at least the same as.

As it turns out WinEQ did solve my problem! I spoke with lax and the render limiter in EQplaynice is not in isboxer, after isntalling WinEQ and setting up the render limiter .. wow the difference is amazing. Thanks for the info, and to anyone else boxing EQ, use WinEQ in conjunction with Isboxer, works amazing and its part of your innerspace subscription so its free.

Ahh man, I remember using WinEQ back in the day - that program was a life saver. Absolutely loved it.
