Day 1 as a Multiboxer Questions and Jamba issues.

I played for 4 hours yesterday. The first three hours was pure config and setup, followed by 1 hour of gaming...

During this time I had several problems which I hope you could resolve.

I am using Jamba... and I am using the [F1] /focus Toon1, [F2] /focus Toon2... etc method

1. Even though I am using Jamba, I am still leaving my toons behind quite often. Even though it says "Stopped following" I sometimes miss it or just don't pay attention. And even though I have the toolbar up with the Green colors when they are following... again I miss it. Is there anything more obvious I can use? Something which PERMA STAYS on top and just screams out at me?

2. How exactly do I get the quest manager to work in Jamba. Some times I click on a Quest on my main and even though I have selected Share quests, not all the other Toons get the quest. I just ran for 4 minutes only to find out that one of my guys didn't pick up the quest after completing it and handing it in, so I had to do him manually.

3. When handing in quests, how am I supposed to do this? I have set up a Macro on my "J" key which is Interact With Target. I was using that because the automatic quest hand in with team wasn't working correctly. So I was finding I hand to get the people right on top of the quest hand in guy and then press J.. Again some people would not get the quest completion if they were just a little bit too far away from the handin guy. Is there a way to run them to him?

4. When looting corpses... what is the correct way? I know I have asked this before, but It takes such a long time for the action to load up and then click on the items I want to loot (if any.. mostly at my level they are all junk).

5. AHHH This one is annoying. How do I get my toons (which are shamans) to face the correct way. Often when they are running behind me, I will lightening a mob and he will run behind me. I can turn around easily, but my followers don't turn around and just keep getting... "You need to be facing your target" tooltip popup. How can I get them to face easily? Manually turning using my Right and Left keys is a big sluggish? Wouldn't you agree?

6. Currently, I have a macro which I press.. but I don't quite know what it does... but when I want to attack something, I run up to it on my master, then press T, which has this macro,

/follow focus
/assist focus
/startattack [target=focustarget, harm] []
/cleartarget [modifier:alt]

Then I press my Macro for lightening, which is just /cast lightening.

If I don't press the T button, my toons don't attack, I guess because they aren't targetting what my main is attacking. How should I resolve this, create a single macro which is...

Why do I need the /startattack? Is this a melee macro?

7. What addons exist for visually being able to monitor all of my toons easily?

1. Try using follow strobing in Jamba. 2. Make sure you aren't leading with a toon that has a speed boost. Beyond that, you'll just have to get used to watching out for broken follows. You can increase the size of the bars under Jamba > Team > Display : Team. I'd also suggest unchecking "Hide Team List In Combat" until you are used to keeping your slaves with you.

Not all quests will be sharable. As such, not all quests can automatically pass from Main to slaves. I have all my toons manually pick up quests to avoid this issue. Look at the quest subsection here (http://www.dual-boxing.com/showpost.php?p=265230&postcount=3).

Again, see the quest subsection from the link above. You will want to enable click to move to make the slaves move to the target. It is under WoW's Options > Interface > Mouse > Click-to-move.

I use the same manner for looting as I do for getting quests. /assist main, interact with target.

Grab a few Focusing Lenses and create a macro

/use Shadow Crystal Focusing Lens

Why use a macro when you don't understand what it does? You should figure out what you want to do and then create a macro for it, not create a macro then try to figure out what it does. http://www.macroexplain.com/

Personally, that is how I do all my macros. Unless you intend your slaves to always attack one thing while your main attacks another {PvP, or perhaps some PvE bosses}, it's just unneeded keystrokes to use a separate assist, IMO. Alternately, you can write the macros like this:


/cast [@focustarget] spell


Why do I need the /startattack? Is this a melee macro?

/startattack turns on autoattacks. You don't need it for casters unless you want to smack mobs with your melee weapons.


7. What addons exist for visually being able to monitor all of my toons easily?

It depends on what you want to monitor. I use Pitbull4 for almost everything visual. I use Jamba for follow {and a million other things}. I use MSBT for announcing certain buffs, which I am about to get rid of since I only really use it for one buff at this point. I use DBM + Spelltimers + Group Cooldowns (http://www.dual-boxing.com/showthread.php?t=30613) for cooldowns and warnings. I use TomQuest for quest info.

Monitoring your toons isn't about addons, it's about learning what you feel you need to see and then finding what works best to organize that information so you can find it easily.

a) "Interact with target" on the followers will cause them to run up to the target, great for getting them facing the correct way.

b) Move the main in such a way that the followers face the target.

Shadow Crystals, when used, makes you turn to your target.

It's called Shadow Crystal Focusing Lens (http://www.wowhead.com/item=42420), it takes a jewelcrafter to makes this. It has 40 charges and takes 1 shadow crystal to make, so very cheap.

After a fear you could cast that macro instead of interact with target. It's instant and makes your toon facing the target automatically cause it casts a harmless beam on them.

I'm not sure if there is a minimum level requirement to use it though?

And I have to keep charges on it?

when the charges go off, you just get a new one.

On my hunters I keep at least 5 on me all the time.

Jade lenses work also. Do you know someone who is a JC? Might be able to buy a stack of Gems, and have them make it for ya.
