best upgrade for my computer?

k, so i built my computer close to 3 years ago and the only thing i've upgraded since then was the graphics card. needless to say, it's not as "awesome" as it used to be :(

AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 2.10 GHz
2 GB ram DDR2
Nvidia geforce 9800 GT

power supply is 450 watts

i assume the best upgrades for me would be a better processor and more ram, but does that mean i will need to find a new mobo as well?

Yeah, it's time for a whole new system if you are looking to upgrade. Might be able to salvage the video card though...

Not sure how many your trying to box or want to, but upgrading the ram wouldn't hurt if your running out now it would be paging to disk and be rather slow. That should be fine for 2 boxing, 3 boxing would work but be a bit chunky...
What ever you upgrade your not going to get significant performance without upgrading RAM,CPU, Motherboard and potentially Power supply... As Fenril said, replacing the lot would be the best idea going forward though.

Not sure if you can get/put a 4x core amd cpu in that mb.

Hi, you're kind of in the same issue as me. I'm running 4 gigs of RAM, a 3.0 ghz Athlon and a 9800 gx2. Similiar setups.

I figured out that if I doubled my RAM and got a 64 bit OS I could probably do 3-5. The problem is the graphics are going to have to be on low and I'd be running 30 fps on your main and 10 on your slaves if I'm lucky. You also need to remember that when Cataclysm comes out in 2 months, multiboxing in Cataclysm with that set up will most likely not fly.

I came to the conclusion that it's not worth 200-300 dollars to upgrade a system to 5 box now when I could spend 1000-1200 and 5 box in Cataclysm.
