View Full Version : Stockpile your Triumph and Frost emblems

Edit: Actually, don't bother stockpiling, the frost->JP cost inflation for items is a killer.
Here's the WOW forums post by Bashiok

Basically, it looks like with patch 4.0 they will convert all triumph and all frost emblems to Justice Points. It is a 1:1 conversion, with a cap of 4000 JPs.
I'd say that is a pretty generous cap. If you have not been stockpiling them (been spending them on gems for AH sale, right?), then it is doubtful you can reach the cap by Cataclysm release. If you can garner 15 emblems per hour, and spend three hours a day, it will take you 88 days to reach the cap. I'm certain Cataclysm will be out before mid December.
So, get to grinding heroics via the dungeon finder and stockpile those emblems (JPs).

Instead of killing yourself grinding you can prob just wait for the JP to come out, and they will most likely be easier to farm, than farming 4000 badges.

Actually after reading the ensuing discussion on the original WOW blue posting, this "generous cap" isn't really generous after all.
It appears that the JP cost for items is a very large amount of JPs, some items it appears that currently cost X number of frost emblems will cost 10X justice points (judging by their cost on PTR).
Stockpiling for a 1000% inflation, no thanks. Ah well, back to skilling up my 20+ alchemists...
i'm just happy the older badges/emblems convert to gold, i have a crapton of badges of justice from running a few Karas lol
also i'm happy that running older content will still award useful points (albeit less)

Yeah, me too, I just run Kara and some old heroics for mats for enchants that sell fairly well on AH.

Here's some information on how each of the currencies will be converted in the next content patch. Keep in mind these values may change, and they can get a bit math heavy. Just know that our intent is to appropriately value each mark and provide a conversion we feel is fair.
The following items are immediately converted to gold:
Emblem of Heroism = 5.5 gold each
Emblem of Valor = 5.5 gold each
Emblem of Conquest = 5.5 gold each
Badge of Justice = 1.833 gold each
Your New Honor Points total will be the sum of the following amounts:
Old Honor * 0.024
Old Arena Points * 0.85
Battleground Mark of Honor * 2.976
Wintergrasp Mark of Honor * 19.08
Stone Keeper Shard * 1.6
Venture Coin * 3
Spirit Shard * 1
Your Justice Points total will be equal to (Emblems of Triumph + Emblems of Frost ) * 2.75
Again, the softcap for both Honor and Justice conversions is 4000 points. This means that if a character converts to above 4,000 points, it will not be possible for them to earn more until they fall below the 4,000 cap.
A hardcap will be implemented in a following patch before Cataclysm's release. At that time, any excess points above 4,000 will be converted as follows:
Honor points above 4,000 are converted to gold at a rate of 35 silver per point of Honor.
Justice points above 4,000 are converted to gold at a rate of 2 gold per point of Justice.

So the question is, will the Justice points be usable at lvl 85 for something worthwhile or will there be another badge/currency for the Tier11 (or whatever the first epics are) at 85.

There will no longer be badges of any kind, they are switching over to an entirely point based system (including buying tier pieces)

^ what the muffin guy said
Also, you will be able to convert honor to justice and vice versa to purchase pvp/pve gear.

If you don't care about JP's I could see farming up a bunch of triumph badges on all 5 characters and then converting them into conquest for the gold from the patch :)

i have
+1100 triumph
+4k Stone keeper shards
+250 WG marks
and 100 frost on Each character
So should i save my Emblems and Stone keeper shards?
So save or spend them...
i have 200k gold at this moment so i dont really need gold

But the points are just another name for badges, there has always been a differentiation between what each type of badge can buy, OR will it be simply that the raid tier gear will not be avaialable for points until it is no longer the higher gear level and so giving raiders a gear advantage?
My guess is that a boss in a Cata heroic will give 10 JPs and raid bosses will give... more than that... and WotLK bosses will give 1 JP. That way there's an incentive to do the new content, but old content is still worth *something* also.
It makes sense, at least - they don't want you saving up all your points to instantly get fully geared when you hit 85, especially since you only killed level 80 bosses to get the points.

By changing them to raw gems and sell them, on my realm this would mean:
- 6k+ from triumph badges
- 3k from stone keeper shards
- 500g from wg marks
- 5k from frosts
if you cut the gems yourself you make 20-30% more, easily
if you use the primordial saronite to craft stuff even more
if you buy orbs with triumph same deal

So then based on that, the cap they impliment may be just enough to get one piece of the next tier level items. So stockpiling trimph/frost badges might not be that worthwhile.
Current badges may simply be of so much less value vs the time it will take to get the points in the expansion.
Downgrading, as suggested above, to Concquest badges might be the better idea to just acrue some gold.

is the gold conversion rate stated somewhere? you might still be better off selling now rather than waiting for a 10silver per triumph conversion

I checked out the link from MMO and something's got me stumped. I didn't read the posts there, but the Arena Points, are they doing away with them completely? If so, any idea what changes to the pvp gear/weapons is gonna look like for current lvl 80 stuff you can get that require both AP and HPs, but no rating?

The season will end before 4.0 is released- they wipe arena points at the end of every arena season.

When you get the NEW honor points, these items should be buyable since arena points will be gone.
iLVL >200
Buyable with arena points
Does not require rating.

The trees are built for level 85 and I'm sure they're not even completely tuned yet. Blizzard would never release trees that have been completely overhauled like this during an active arena season, it would mess up every player's style and there would be a flood of genuine QQ.

Disregard -- blue post it will end when they patch it. They did patch talents pretty big with a season open before, however there was another month and half to go then.

Kinda like season 4 IN BC when they released WOW Talents while Season4 was still going ><

Not really, they rewarded people based on their arena standings before they released those new talent trees.

If you don't care about JP's I could see farming up a bunch of triumph badges on all 5 characters and then converting them into conquest for the gold from the patch :) Or you could downgrade your triumph emblems to buy epic gems, cut and sell them for way more. Been doing that for months, it's the only money maker a multiboxer needs. You don't even have to mindlessly run normal garfrost (LOL@that stupid moneymaking thread) to get tons of gold.

Hello mass honor points. My toons all have over a thousand each of the pvp venture coins. I did those dailies every day when i was leveling my group and only spent like 30 or whatever for the totem upgrades at the time. They were also part of my daily quest gold run. I also have a fat stack of the Wintergrasp commendation. Guess its time to honor up with them as I dont see them on the list of conversions.

I've pretty much put the hurt on the epic gem market on my server. They still sell, but I'll have to run some numbers and see. I've been dumping all my honor and badges on gems + transmuting gems.
1000 Triumph Badges = 50 Cardinal Rubies x 90g = 4500g (price on my server uncut).
Cut Red/Yellow/Blue go between 95g-125g so let's say 110g each. = 5500g
1000 Triumph Badges = 100 Green/Purple/Orange Gems = Roughly 7000g (uncut).
Cut Green/Orange/Purple go between 75-100g depending on the cut so lets say 85g each = 8500g
1000 Triumph Badges converted to Conquest = 5500g
If you are buying the red/yellow/blue and selling uncut then Conquest is prob the way to go anyways, but if you have a lot of cuts and time to manage your
auctions then cutting and posting is the way to go. Conquest = Guaranteed gold amount where as gems = Theoretical Gold amounts.
TLDR: If you're lazy use conquest badges for free money if you aren't try to milk the remaining tits of the gem market before they hit rock bottom
when cata launches / 4.0.1 hits.
also note that possibly a large part of the server population will be doing the same calculations and the gem market might vary
