View Full Version : So who is actually playing?

The insomnia is back pretty bad and in a moment of weakness I reactivated an account and grabbed a bunch of PLEX to get some funds. I really want to get to some capital fleet battles (I brought my would be carrier pilot back first), but I could also be interested in some logistics (I have a jump freighter capable pilot, just no Anshar), and I think I have just about every type of mid level character build in existances. I just need to know what role is needed and that it would be something that happens more than once a fortnight.

So before I started looking at my old 0.0 corp, I wanted to see what was really going on and who was really playing.

Im still very heavy into the Northern Coalition, as of recent we have had several cap fleet battles, i was in one last night that consist of 250+ carriers and Dreads + titans vs a xXDeathXx group in Geminiate/Cobalt Edge Area.

Witthe recent demise of some very very large alliance like Atlas and friends, and Ushra'khan its up in the air how the political upheaval will affect the northern region, but at this time it shouldnt hard to find large capital battles.

If you are looking for a decent 0.0 group that has a lot of cap combat, then NC is generally a good place to start. I also hear IT Alliance is pushing into Cloud Ring/Outer Ring, Ev0ke space which may be interesting location as well.

How hard are they on background checks? While I don't think I'll worry about joining anything until I can fly a carrier, I'm not sure I want to go through the whole anti-spy crap that some corps make you wade through.

I'm currently in an alliance with ties to the northern coalition as well. there are some who will make you walk on water to prove you are pure.. but really API Key+Corp History is most the corps need.

If you're looking to get into a Corp, I can point you in the direction of mine. Currently it's in Empire, but we are in negotiations to join TEST Alliance.

Also, to throw in.. you missed a rather large battle a couple days ago between AAA and Pandemic Legion. I sputtered out there in a cloaked ship.. but hey... at least I got to watch

So you like to watch... ;) I have some alts that I used to leave cloaked in systems when I was boxing. I had safe spots around stations where I could still be on grid, but right on the edge so I could bump to a new one if I needed to. I'd sit cloaked watch people in and out of the station now and then. Personally, I think cloaking is just a tad too safe, but I also think that the info you can get in game is undervalued in game, so I guess it evens out. But I would love to see some expensive 5 minute charge up tachyon particle bomb that would render everything cloaked in a system visible and prevent cloaking for 15 minutes unless you had a way to remove the residual charge. At least make it a challenge to stay hidden ;)

Once I decide on how much I'm actually playing, I'll see what my old corp and alliance are up to. Not sure where old loyalties are and sadly Eve is a game where that would matter ;)

So did wormhole space ever pan out into anything? Or is it still a place to be stuck and practice your probing skills? I did manage to fly a couple Orca's from Jita to 56 jump deep 0.0 with two WH jumps once, but it wasn't reliable enough to make a game of it.

I started fresh, so the whole WH space isn't something I've experienced yet.

But, from what I understand.. it has the most difficult NPC's in the game. Not to mention it's where you get access to the components to make T3 ships. I currently have both my characters learning Strategic Cruiser stuff... :D

Souca,

VVA Alliance that has space in the northern coalition isnt all that bad in terms of history/background checking, though a lot of NC major requirements is that your not a pirate or perform piracy. The Pelican. corp thats part of VVA, is mostly EU Active, i am one of the US Pilots, but they were pretty relaxed. I however have moved from alliance to alliance within the NC. There is always an NC Corp recruiting. depending if you are after pvp, going into an NC corp as a pve'er, except for a certain few corps. most of the NC Corps are recruiting combat pilots, to bolster numbers.

If you look at the NC as an option, i would highly recommend sticking to the Deklein alliances ie: like Fiddlesticks stated, or the Tribute and east groups. all the Pure Blind / Fade NC Allliances ie: MH FCON, WI, SMA have a lot of lag due to the size of their daily fleets. However if your part of the NC, any CTA called you will always experience lag regardless.

Shoot me questions ingame on my main Cirocke anytime, im usually on 8 to 10 hrs a day.

Yea, NC is always the superior choice. The south is so unstable, and constantly fighting with each other it gets kinda obnoxious.

Avoid the far east blocks.. I've heard most over there are russian.. and don't take well to outsiders :p

Interesting. I had been in the south before, Stain mostly, but I believe they ended up in Scalding Pass when they got Sov. so far I've mostly been playing the EveMon portion of the game and grinding skills, but since my missioner was grinding Sansha rep I'll have to figure out how to get her high enough so that a Caldari Navy agent will talk to her so I can see how bad L4s are in 0.5+ space.

If I can recommend anything as far a missioning goes, it's social skills. It makes shit so much easier when it comes to building up reputation... and if you decide to go do sansha, there are some that reduce the amount of rep you lose for working for a different faction. Currently I joined EVE University on the only character I care about. Planning on using that as a crash course on PvP to slingshot into a NC alliance.
