How many Multi-boxers use only 1 system?

Just curious on how many multi-boxers use only 1 system to play any game...

If your a multi-boxer that uses only 1 system (no matter how many game instances you use on that one system) please say your one of them... :P

Thanks for your time.

132

Although if I move to 10-boxing then it will be 131 since I'm not sure my current system could handle 10 in Cataclysm (please chime in if you think it could... possible successful thread hijack!)

One system.

Perhaps the mods could turn this into an actual poll? Or, I think regular users can make polls, no?

Can't you use a poll, then you won't have to get people to actually reply, or did you want names of people to talk to?

I use one system. quad core q6600, 8GB crap ram, ati 4870, intel SSD (the newer, economy model). I get very good performance 5 or even 6 boxing.

Of course I have quite a few optimizations. I've done just about every little optimization (registry changes, services disabled, etc.) you'll find on various websites. I do not run a resident anti-virus (you know, the modern ones that run like 15 processes and hook into all system calls including I/O), because they absolutely murder performance, even the lightweight ones. I run it manually if I need to, like the old days. But that was the biggest performance boost, other than the SSD, that I've ever seen.

I 5 box on one system. I 9 boxed for a while on this system. Ran a bit slower but was still doable.

i7 processor and 12 gigs ram.

Five on one here, though I've run as many as ten on it. Alas, running ten requires I turn everything down, graphically.

used to have 5 on 1 machine, but it's a crap machine and it was very laggy, so now i'm using my second crap machine to lead, and have 4 on the other machine.

does separately mboxing on both you desktop (when homer) and laptop (when travelling) count? If I get super keen I might try 10boxing between the two of them (but only when at home obviously)

May I ask why you use Vista instead of Win 7? Just curious.

I use 1 computer and used to run 10 accounts on it. It ran all 10 just fine but I went back to 5 boxing because I just wasn't getting enough out of 10 for it to be worth it.

AMD Phenom II x4 955 3.2GHz, 16GB (4x4GB) DDR2 667, Sapphire Radeon HD 4850 x2 2GB, and a 64gb SSD for Win 7 and the wow folder.

it really depends on the game i'm playing, if i can multi-client then i'll run it on 1 but if not, i'll run it on 2

In my case, have not been bothered to format and install Win 7.
Just lazy, as I do have a copy of Win 7, even.

I was using 2 pcs till recently started to 5box with 1 pc. Using I7 860 8gb ram hd5870 gfx card. Using few addons on the main (tank view) window but the rest uses 1-2. Graphics are set near max on main window and lowest on other 4. Works great so far.

I run five instances of wow on one machine. I turn all the graphics settings to low, except the view distance and envrionment detail.

32" Monitor
Intel Quad Core 2.6Ghz
4GB RAM
PNY Nvidia GeForce 9600 GT 1GB
HotKeyNet

I have the screen set to 2560 x 1600 and each window set to 720x576, then I use HKN to resize and position the windows. Because the screen is set to 2560 x 1600 all the graphics look really sharp, though a little squashed when a window is maximised. If I'm going to play with one window maximised for extended periods I minimize the others to reduce the strain on the system.

I have 3 systems but I only use 1 for 5 boxing (Phenom x4, 8gb, Nvidia 250/9800, Ocz SSD.
I have a dual monitor setup with the second monitor attached to the first and second system. Second system is my file server dvd/netflix/tv tuner watching system and file server.
Third system is a scratch box on a kvm with the second system,

I have 5 separate systems and I operate 4 of them with 1 keyboard and 1 mouse. The other one is the master and its on its own keyboard and mouse.

I have run 4 instances of LOTRO on 1 PC before, but usually I only run 2-3.

My laptop isn't that great, I expect people with good machines can probably run more...

Intel Core I5
4 Gig ram
ATI Mobility Radeon 4570
320 gig hd

I turn down all the graphics to low basically and it gets a little laggy, but playable in most areas. (even Moria)

Used to play with 2 PC's, but the simplicity of 1 is worth a lot for me.

5 box on 1 system (max graphics, 60 fps)

lenovo D10 workstation
Intel Xeon Quad Core E5420 / 2.5 GHz
6 GB RAM
nvidia GTX 470
2 monitors (22", 26")

the system can do 8 boxes at low graphics and 30 fps, at 9 boxes CPU is at 100% - so I am thinking about adding a second cpu + more ram to be able to do my 10box on one system

anyone experience with that?

my laptop can do 5 boxes on low graphics just fine (MSI GT640 with nvidia 9800)

I've only been boxing on trial accounts but so far it runs smoothly. I'm using 6GB on a i7 930.
