I'm wondering why this works

So I've been using ISBoxer, 5 boxing, for a few weeks now and have been having a lot of fun.

I've been reading lots of stuff online and trying to come up with optimal dps sequences, etc. My question is about why my dps castsequences work at all.

With the ISBoxer FTL setup, how are my slaves getting a target? Most of the macros I see online start with /assist focus or /assist target, etc. I know the whole point of FTL is to do away with that, but "what" gets the slaves to cast on the right thing?

My slaves DPS macros certainly have no /assist in them, just plain /castseqence.

I'm quite a noob aswell on this but what i do know is this: In Isboxer you have 2 steps for a keybind that has a spell under it which will assist your mainchar. 1. Do FTL assist me in which you set the target. I asume the ISboxer addon then sees what target the 'main' character has and tells your slave that that's their target aswell. step 2 is to actually broadcast the key.

There are several other addons that also react to the target from a boss for example. Instead of having the focus on boss X it's now on the character you're playing.

Innerspace creates the FTL, follow and assist during setup. Just part of the reason it is so worth the money.

EDIT: ISboxer does this within ISboxer that is why you dont need the macros etc

I read the FTL thread before but I'm still missing something. Even the FTL thread has /target in it's macros. I don't have target in anything I write...where is the hidden targetting happening? Jamba?

Something has to be telling the slave's what the cast target is, and I know I'm not setting it anywhere.

ISBoxer can't be setting the target, it is just a keystroker multiplexor. Jamba could I suppose.

Check in ISboxer, you have a "main macro" called FTL assist, this tells your group to assist the character you are using(thats why everyone needs to have diferent modifiers to make it work as it toon A has 1 and toon B has another etc).
So the assist part comes from ISboxer telling your FTL Dps button 1(for example) to use "FTL assist me" to your other toons, so by poressig 1 you tell your other chars to assist you within ISboxer thats why its never showed anywhere

That makes sense, but where is the actual in game macro for the FTL assist? I don't see it in the macro's tab of the in-game ui.

it's done within ISboxer, it doesn't put the macro's there, because that would be annoying. I guess you could say it's in the script of the ISboxer addon.

IS Boxer has added an Addon for you. This addon has the FTL stuff in it, along with other macros made within IS Boxer, and does these for you in the background.

There are three mapped keys, which use the FTL stuff. Everything else which depends on FTL references one of these:
a) FTL Target Me
b) FTL Follow Me
c) FTL Assist Me

If you were to disable the IS Boxer addon, for a given character (or for all characters) then the FTL stuff (along with macros made in IS Boxer) would cease working. Straight keybinds should still work, and warcraft macros on those keybinds.
