i went and killed hogger as well the other day. Don't know what all the hype is, he went down real quick and none of my guys died.

Incoming Wall of Text and Critique! This is a true, honest, review.
You can either read it and let it help you or you can think I'm just an asshole. :)

Here are just some video recording tips that might help:


1. If you're not going to use the in game sound in your video, then don't record it.
It takes up unnecessary space that could be used towards the quality of the video.
If you are going to use the audio I can only suggest to check the box called "Don't
sync audio and video" if you're using FRAPS. You can always sync stuff up later while
video editing if it happens to fall out of sync [which I've never had a problem with before].

2. If you're going to do voice commentating over your video then I would recommend to
know what you're going to say ahead of time. Definitely watch the clip prior to commentating
on it, this isn't a live sportscast. Improv is nice, but sometimes rehearsing what you're
going to say, or doing a second take, so you can cut out the wasted time with all the
Uhh's and Umm's is even better.

3. Instead of just doing a 'hard cut' from clip to clip, while using Adobe Premiere you can
use the Video Transition effect called "Cross Dissolve" which will give you a nice fade
between clips and make it look cleaner.
I'm guessing you're making some sort of series on YouTube of you leveling up this new team of yours on KJ. That's great, I like it, it's entertaining; but you can definitely cut out the parts where you are doing nothing [like in the Goldshire Inn]. I point out the part in the Inn particularly because you mentioned in the video that you wished you had sped that part up, so why didn't you speed it up? You edited the video. It'd be different if I edited the video and then you could say,"I'm not sure WTF Fenril was doing when he edited this video, he should have cut this part out." :)

Back to transitioning between clips. Instead of speeding something up 300% you can just cut that out with a nice transition, but explain it in your video if you need to, don't leave the viewer confused and puzzled. If you feel that a kill quest or your time in the mine was taking too long, but you really want the viewer to see it, then speed it up just a touch. Nothing too drastic though, I feel that people don't really like to watch stuff that's sped up a bunch and that they'd rather watch something closer to real time. I'm assuming you might feel the same way seeing as you're going for superb video quality.

I guess what I'm trying to get at is, Elwynn Forest is a small zone and in a 12 minute video you missed half of it, technically. There are 3 easy, non-collection, quests on the east side of the zone [Princess Must Die, Protect the Frontier, and Find the Lost Guards]. I'm not picking on you because you missed these quests, but what I am saying is...

What happens when you're in Duskwood and you have to travel back and forth between Darkshire and Raven Hill?
What happens when you're traveling from Nesingwary's Camp in Stranglethorn to go all the way down south by the Gurubashi Arena to kill Tethis for the last step of Raptor Mastery?

I think you see where this is going. Are you going to have a 17 part series of 15 minute videos of you questing in STV? I'm not sure I could handle all of that. :)

As for the issue you're having with choppiness and trying to edit your video in Premiere is the same reason I don't edit videos in Premiere. A lot of people experience that and a $1000 processor isn't going to fix it. I play back the same footage in Sony Vegas Pro with absolutely no problem when in Premiere it becomes choppy. You might try browsing some real video editing forums to see what other people have to say about tweaking your settings. You also might try not using the in game audio in your clips, it's just one more thing for Premiere to have to play back and might possibly be affecting your video playback. I'm going to install CS5 today though and I will get back to you if I find anything that helps me and my Q9550.

I also talked to TotablBiscuit this morning and asked him about his setup. I feel like a complete fool because he pointed out that if you look at his YouTube channel page (http://www.youtube.com/user/TotalHalibut) it's all listed on there.

Laughed and loved it man. I would have rated it but I didn't feel like creating a youtube account to do it. I find it interesting to see how people handle the mundane shit. There are already a ton of videos out there that show boxers owning. It kind of makes you feel like wtf? What am I doing wrong? Rarely do you see people show a wipe. Again, enjoyed it.... Looking forward to more.

I actually checked out your video tests you posted with adobe premiere, which in turn made me purchase the Adobe Premiere Production Suite.

Now I just need to get into the next BG level tier to test out my new toy lol

Anyway, great video. As fenril posted things can be done / changed, but I enjoyed it and thought the commentary was pretty funny at times.

++ for making me laugh.

If you just started on LOB maybe I should just bite the bullet and reroll my hunter / priest / warrior group over their now. I was planning on waiting until the expansion so I could mail BOA items over there.

Maybe we could do some premade BG's, or at the very least share video rendering tips while online lol

I liked some of the commentary, and think you have a good self-deprecating sense of humor, but in general the video wasn't worthwhile. Take some time, edit things, take Fenril's advice, and come back with something quality. Last thing you want is to put out too much crap and have people not take you seriously anymore.
