View Full Version : [ISBoxer] chatting ain`t possible anymore

So I finially got back into boxing and I subscribed to ISboxer which I`ve been fooling around with for like 8 hours now.
Atm I`m completely lost. I`ve set FTL for my 5man group with the Z key as follow and X as assist and that works. However, all the keys that I bind to do jobs, such as the Z and X in this case won`t work when chatting. So basicly I cannot use them at all. I tryed with blacklist and whitelist as well but that din`t help.
Then when I try to use a hotkey different to the key combination, it stops working as well.
Isn`t there anyway to turnoff the key broadcasting to be able to chat again. I tryed with the repeater but that just makes more of a mess.
Would be nice to be able to chat while playing lol
Thanks in advance
all you should have to do is disable the keymaps when you want to chat.
it should be gray/green icon in the top left corner of your wow screens (click it once to toggle it on all wows)
the second icon is the repeater. basically, to chat (using your main only) you want both icons to be gray, not green

Ohh now I remember those things yea.
Any pointers on where to find it in ISboxer? It`s not showing and I have no idea if it`s a keybind activate.
in ISBoxer, Click Bars >> Broadcast >> Buttons i believe, and make sure you add that clickbar to your team profiles

The default bind for key maps is Shift alt M
you can change it in: Keymaps -> Control -> mapped keys -> active maps.

If you make all your letter keys have a modifier like shift \ alt etc, you can type as normal since they will only get sent to the others when you use the modifier. means you can chat without having to turn off and on junk.
Frustrated the ^#@^ out of me having to choose to chat or box but not being able to do both at the same time.

...or you could just learn the software you're using and realize that it's very easy to move from boxing to chatting. Personally I have broadcasting set to "home" and turn it off with "end".

But then if your having a long converstation your turning broadcasting on and off a million times or not progressing through an instance or what ever one is doing?
I just use alt F for follow, shift F to tell my followers to move backwards,
and the keys around.. home, end, del, insirt etc for slave movement. (to tell them all to move or turn if required) I'm yet to create a spread out key or two. It's on my list of things to do along with a few other things. Still very new to 5x boxing. First team is 68 and counting!

i just toggle the keymaps off whenever i need to chat as well.
maybe in JoeMultiboxer we'll be able to set one keyboard for boxing and one for chatting :-)

If you're having a long conversation you're not progressing through the instance anyway, regardless of single boxing or multiboxing. It seems really extreme to me to make all your spells shift/ctrl/alt modified just so you can use your regular keys for chatting, when it's very simple to just hit one key to turn everything on or turn everything off. I personally use shift/ctrl/alt modifiers to cast different spells - plus I can use capital letters while chatting without casting some random spell.
But, if it works for you then great! I just wouldn't recommend that playstyle to anyone.

realy all you have to do is delete everyone in your friends list and /ignore server.. this way you can complete your dungeon.
or either learn to deal with the software :P
its realy easy to setup in ISboxer and once used to it its realy nice Littleburst was right to where you can rebind it.

i just toggle the keymaps off whenever i need to chat as well.
maybe in JoeMultiboxer we'll be able to set one keyboard for boxing and one for chatting :-)
I wonder if you're gonna be faster at switching keyboard then hitting your keybind for keymaps :P
Or you wanna type with 1 hand and dps/heal/tank with the other?

Yes, absolutely. It should be pretty painless to set it up that way :) You might set up all your hotkeys on one keyboard, and have the other set up to just pass through to the current window (or a specific window, or lots of windows, etc). Or different hotkeys for different characters on different keyboards, and so on. *rubs hands together mischievously*
I'm going to have to hook up a USB hub with lots of keyboards and get some pics of a ridiculous setup/mess of input devices, all for my one PC ;)

I dont set keymaps to a-z keys. I just set mine to 1 - = and then ctr f1 - ctr f12, shift f1 - shift f12.
That way, I can chat fine with keymaps on. the only time I turn them off is when dealing with the AH.

my usual problem is not the speed at which i can toggle, my problem is usually remembering to toggle back.
For example before pulling that big bad boss from hell and wondering why my slaves are not attacking/healing at all :-)

Maybe LAX can change the banner " key map off" to stay on screen until you turn "keymap on" with a toggle of course.

I can imagine that that would pissoffpeople as well.

Good suggestion!
Just having it as an option would be nice. Since Zub's words sounds very familiar. :D

Well, you can determine what is displayed on the screen, Font and Color I believe, maybe size too. You get to pick a duration, which you can set to whatever works for you. It wouldn't be that hard (I don't think), to include a check box or drop-down option for the "banner" to be persistent until the mapped key (toggle or two-step) advances or toggles.
That way, if you want a persistent message/reminder, you can have one. And if you don't want it to be persistent, it will clear itself after however long you have set.
My Melee IWT mapped key, which is frequently spammed along with my click castsequences does IWT for only the melee group, and does not spam an IWT message. My single press, every toon gets it, IWT mapped key (different hotkey for the Mapped Key, but same output in Warcraft) announces in pink lettering that IWT has been pressed; it's pretty easy to set what is displayed and when.
You can set the popup text action to stay for 10 minutes if you want the banner to stay. Just edit the Activate Maps and/or Activate Repeat mappings under the Control key map as desired

Nice, that's one of the things i liked in KC, you get a bit FAT (and ugly) "Do not pass" in the middle of your screen.
Will try this out

I'm not really sure people understood what I meant...
My current setup is very simple... out of the box ISboxer... as far as the keyboard goes. number keys are repeated to all other instances... I've added shift number keys for special abilities and macros to various things.. like smart buff... and use mouse repeater regions for healing... so very few things are actually repeated as far as LETTERS are concerned to the other instances of WOW. The few letters I use to repeat to the other clients I simply have a modifier on them so they don't get sent unless I use the modifier. Alt F for follow... Shift F for stop follow.. and that's about it beyond the default keys that ISBoxer comes with to turn options on or off. I turn the maps on and off all the time, along with the mouse repeater for various junk, it's just nice not to have to do it when it's not required. :)

Continue doing it if it works for you. I still wouldn't ever recommend that type of system to a serious multiboxer.
