It is handy indeed having extra buttons to use for things like buffs and other commands. If you are playing all the same class it is less crucial, if you are multiclassing Id say its very handy.
*edit* isnt the first edition of the G15 only have 6 macro keys? the pro version or w/e has the 18macro keys and its very easy to find online deals for 70bucks for one.

G15 macro and wow macro are not the same thing
a g15 "macro" is simply a collection of keystrokes you would bind to a macro key (like bind alt+shift+1 to G1) it allows you more usable keybindings without encroaching on the easily usable ones.
WoW macros are different altogether.

i was told that you can create simple macros with it for key strokes at X time... guess they lied.

i was told that you can create simple macros with it for key strokes at X time... guess they lied.you can, but using a device to automate multiple keypresses to perform multiple actions is against the TOS for WoW because you could use it to chain macros. So in order to setup a keybind for wow you would technically do the same thing but remove all the delay values from the 'macro' so when you press the button from my previous post the game will see that you hit 'alt-shift-1' So you can go into the keybindings menu, select an item to bind and hit the G1 key on your keyboard, and viola you now have another bound key using a combination of keys that you wont use normally, thus allowing you more possible keybindings and modifiers in your macros(if you use them)

What Marvein said.
There is a simple macro functionality but it is against the TOS to use it and would certainly be frowned upon by the community here

Hrm regarding usage I currently have my G15 Keyboard and my Nostromo N52 pressing multiple buttons at once for simple purposes ie
a G15 button types out the full command "/focus" which hits my interface only when I'm single boxing
Nostromo is doing Shift+1 and escape to bring up my main action bar and close extraneous windows
Technically its pressing more the one button, however its not triggering any actions of any kind. Is this against the TOS and bannable? Or should I write a couple of in game macros to handle these functions just to be on the safe side... ?(

no its not and that is how I do it. what is not allowed is using the full macro feature making it so if you hit one of the G15 keys it will for example press 1, wait 3 seconds, press 2, wait 4 seconds, press 3, or simply press the same button with wait times in between so that you can press one button and have it do several things in succession.

Just to clarify, Marvein, from what you said earlier....
The first iteration of the G15 is the one with 18 "G" keys, a folding LCD screen, and the blue backlit LCD.
The current iteration has 6 "G" keys (making it more narrow), a non-folding LCD screen, and an amber backlit LCD.
I have the old one (the first iteration) and people say the new one is better but pssh, I don't mind the longer, more G-keys on mine, the blue backlight is just dandy for me, and I love being able to fold down the LCD completely. *shrug*
Just wanted to clear up that the 2 different styles are old/new not "regular"/"uberl33t" or anything.
