I know this is in other thread, but i thought about it.. and i may want to truely multibox. Personally I want to multibox with no lag.. so if you can suggest upgrades, please do. Prefer your thoughts on how far I can push this current setup.
this is my current setup for dual boxing...
9800 GT Nivida SLI (dual cards)
intel i7 920 2.66mhz
Windows 7 64-bit Ulitmate
6 gb Tri-ram
320g HD (for quickest response)
Antec nine hundred two Case
Silent Pro M 600w Power Supply
Noctua FF-P12 case 120 x 120 x 25 side case fan (for SLI cards)
4 interal case fans and 1 big on top
2 monitors (DVI / HDMI LG Flatron 23" widescreen HD glossy black W2361VG) and a (VGA Envision 19")
With this setup how much could I push this system into Multiboxing more.. I want to go 4 box or maybe five box.. Can I do it with this setup?
If not, let me know what extras you think can help improve my performance into going 4 some or 5 some.

You could do 6-7 pretty well. As I understand you are using one hard drive. Having Windows on the same drive as your apps, especially games, can slow your gameplay down. A cheap solution is two small, fast drives in a RAID0 array. RAID0 offers no data protection but some speed benefits. Just having one separate, 7200 RPM, drive will make it bit better. I have a similar system with 1 9800GT and 12GB of RAM and I run 10 decently well. I prefer to split the load over two systems still (2 x 5).

If you are adding something to your system, I would suggest a SSD to run WoW. Most people find it makes a big difference in game play. Second upgrade I would do is more RAM, I think the new areas will like the room.

I would suggest not running those cards in SLI for multiboxing.

But I heartily suggest splitting up rendering between them.

update.. Ive got a intel 40gig SSD ive installed and moved my wow folder over to it.. Very nice! Instant loads on all cities!
What do you mean not go SLI? should I put one monitor on one 9800gt and the other on the other 9800gt? Why not SLI?

SLI isn't meant to handle multiple games at once, it's meant to handle a single game. In addition, WoW's core engine was never designed for SLI even though nVidia has tried to tweak it on their end to work better with it. I've never seen anyone benefit from running SLI while multiboxing, it has caused many more problems than it has ever fixed while multiboxing.

Indeed. If you truly want to take advantage of your multiple GPUs, use ISboxer and split the rendering of the game between GPUs, for example, clients 1-3 on GPU2, clients 4-5 on GPU1

I would suggest not running those cards in SLI for multiboxing.
I took the cards out of SLI mode and separated the plugs.. each monitor is now plugged into a separate card.
I'd say.. very much improved my dual boxing experience! Screens load much faster. SLI is for sure a slow down for World of warcraft.. although I have seen improvements with other applications. I've noticed a major increase in my internet explorer too! It seems more applications have a better improvement in non-sli mode compared to sli mode.
Much thanks for this recommendation!
i'll never go back to SLI again for multi-boxing!

I have the same problem with 2 X 4870 Ati Radeon with CrossFire
i'm not able to select wich toon goes with wich Gpu with crossfire enable and after disconnected the cable i have even more issue and low fps then with crossfire.
Didn't stressed too much but 5 boxing with one Gpu or with two gpu crossfire wasn't that huge boost of performance.

You have to make a new game profile within innerspace to allow you to have the extra card render the game, and designate which GPU to use. I'm not very eloquent, you can always ask Lax in the Lavishsoft IRC.

Will soon work on it to set it and hopefull i will be able to set it in the right way.
See u in game! :D
p.s. have the gpu, cpu, nothbridge, southbridge under water cooling system - and i love it - cpu @ 40° gpu @30°.
have plan to cool down also the new gpu..
was not used to see the gpu at 80°
