Read the prot pally changes, what do you think this means for prot pally boosting in low level instances?

I don't see anything that will affect prot pally boosting. Hell in most lowbie instances, all the way up to stuff like hellfire ramparts, a ret paladin can do just as good a job, if not better than a prot paladin. At 85 with even bigger health pools just about any class will be able to boost probably up until hellfire, by sheer HP volume. Ive holy nova boosted with a priest in deadmines, not stopping at all.
Was there something specifically that you read that made you think prot pallies were getting a nerf? All I saw was that im going to need a single target DPS button and a multi target DPS button (which I already do, but the single target one hardly has any abilities to cast currently, so this is a buff, not a nerf)

Consecration -- Now on a 10 sec duration with a 30 sec cooldown. The Hallowed Ground talent makes it cheaper and hit harder -- it does not affect duration. Use Consecration when you need it, but you can't spam it. This is consistent with the AE changes we are making to all tanks.I'm sure this will affect boosting.

I'm sure his will affect boosting.
Just do it as ret and spam divine storm then since it'll hit all targets.

Well if your prot paladin is like mine.. i pull half an instance and then consecrate. Even if its on a 30 second timer, it hits harder now.. so 1 will probably do the job of 2... which usually kills all the mobs anyway.

There's time to boost every toon you could imagine to 60 before Cata hits - so why the question about boosting in Cata? For worgen/goblins?

It sucks but the reason I don't like it is because of instances. Lot of the new bosses spawn adds so timing your consecrate will be crucial. It's one more thing to think about that I don't really want to think about.
Anyway in regards to boosting - I just park my guys and pull as much as I can then drop consecration. So not really going to matter in that aspect for me. I'm holding off to boost until Cataclysm so I can use Scholo/Strat and the new level ranges which I imagine will make boosting even easier.

That non-spam concecration is a big big hit to me I use it all the time to tag with.
Will see how it turns out .... way to soon to speculate.

Doesn't the the new consecration also move with the paladin? You don't drop it , you turn on the damage aura basically?
I have to think that the silencing shield (while on a 1min cooldown) ability has some 'tag' effect to it. Might help with those frog spamming mega zf pulls.

This is a good thing. This helps move WoW away from the "Everyone is a winner" concept they have taken. People will actually have to start thinking again.
As for the change killing boosting, I don't think it will for the reasons mentioned above. Just change from spamming it to pulling more mobs at one time. With the increase in stats this shouldn't be a problem even for a newly dinged 80+ toon in quest gear.

Maybe for solo playing in Pug/Guild runs but as for boxing I really don't want to have to think about timing my consecrations. Of course it is easy that isn't the point really. It's a tedious mechanic and a nerf any way you cut it. Nerfs suck.
As a boxer you already have enough things to think about. But WOW isn't designed around boxing so we roll with the punches. I understand why they did it in light of solo play- there it makes sense.
Ah well just bitching some. I'm so ready for Cataclysm it's going to be fun just having it in my hands. Over the past 5 years of playing I've had to change and adapt more than once. Just hoping they aren't going too nuts with the nerf bat.

I've been playing around with this in beta. There is so much "less" with the 33 point talents that tankadins seem almost easier. Though the days of fast aoes seem over for tanks.
I did not notice consecration following me like an aura though. I'll have to check that out.
It does keep tremendous agro though.

Holy wrath will be our new go to aoe ability for boosting imo. Getting inquisition up with 3 holy power then hit your consecrate then spam holy wrath.
It hits everything now, and the stun only works on undead/demons. Its mana hog tho, but hits everything :D

Damage of holy wrath is split among the targets though, so if you have a lot of mobs I suspect it will hit rather weak.

For some reason I can't find my defense stat in Cata either.
The only things items come with now are Dodge, Parry or Block. No defense. So I'm guessing that's done somewhat differently?

Yes, all tanks will be getting crit immune from a talent in cata, defense is out.
